Multilateral core support is a non-earmarked support to multilateral organisations such as the EU, UN, the World Bank, regional development banks and global foundations. This means that the organisation’s board (which Sweden is usually a part of) decides how the funds are to be used.
Both during and after emergencies humanitarian aid is given to save lives, alleviate suffering and maintain human dignity. After natural disasters or other crises people in need get support like food, shelter, sanitation and medicine. This sector also includes measures to co-ordinate the delivery of the humanitarian aid and protect the civilains as well as short-term reconstruction work to restore pre-existing infrastructure in affected areas and means to prevent future disasters and be better prepared for emergencies.
