Description

Sida's grant to IFRC through the Swedish Red Cross is expected to contribute towards saving thousands of lives and protecting livelihoods from health crises and disasters in vulnerable communities world-wide. Both during and after emergencies humanitarian aid is given to save lives, alleviate suffering and maintain human dignity. After natural disasters or other crises people in need get support like food, shelter, sanitation and medicine. This sector also includes measures to co-ordinate the delivery of the humanitarian aid and protect the civilains as well as short-term reconstruction work to restore pre-existing infrastructure in affected areas and means to prevent future disasters and be better prepared for emergencies.
