For example, a study on inclusive agri-PPPs directly informed the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) in developing national PPP guidelines. Research on childcare services influenced the governments establishment of a committee to develop a sub-decree on childcare, - community-based childcare project proposed scalable models for workers in the textile industry.\n\nEducation and Innovation: Studies on higher education reform, digital skills, gender equity in education, and teacher professional development have contributed to policy discussions and aimed to improve the quality and relevance of education. For instance, research on learning achievement gaps has informed the updating of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports (MoEYS) Gender Mainstreaming Strategic Plan in Education.A green economy policy scoping study with MoE and PAGE (Partnership for Action on Green Economy), lead to a policy brief and it concluded a six-year study on vocational skills development with outputs including a journal article and policy briefs.\n\nDevelopment Economics and Trade: Research on skills development, the impact of COVID-19 on vulnerable populations, private sector development, and regional cooperation has provided analysis to guide economic policies and promote inclusive growth. The research informed the design of government interventions and social protection programmes.\n\nNatural Resources and Environment: Research on climate change adaptation, water resource management, forest governance, and sustainable energy has sought to inform policies aimed at promoting environmental sustainability and climate resilience. For instance, studies on climate-induced migration have contributed to national policy dialogues on climate change and migration.\n\nGovernance and Inclusive Society: CDRIs work has contributed to policy debates on local governance, decentralization, civic engagement, gender equality, and social protection, with the goal of fostering more inclusive and accountable governance. Research on representation, accountability, and governance at the subnational level has directly informed the National Program on Subnational Democratic Development and the Social Accountability Framework.\n\nPolicy Engagement and Dissemination: CDRI has engaged with policymakers, civil society organizations, and other stakeholders through 473 events, including conferences, policy forums, and workshops. The Cambodia Outlook Conference and the National Education Policy Forum are key platforms for disseminating research findings and fostering dialogue. CDRI has also expanded its digital outreach, with its website attracting over 30 million hits and close to 680,000 visitors. Its publications have been downloaded 12,273 times in 2024 alone, and its research has been cited 2,925 times in Google Scholar.\n\nOne examples of a reaserch projects:\n\nThe six-year project Contribution of Vocational Skills Development to Inclusive Industrial Growth and Transformation: An Analysis of Critical Factors in Cambodia (Skills for Industry), studied the linkage between vocational skills development and industrial growth and transformation across different economic sectors in Bangladesh, Cambodia, Ethiopia, Laos, South Africa, and Vietnam. Entered phase 2 in 2022, it further analysed vocational skills development by looking into the supply side of the labour market including TVET providers, industry associations, government representatives and other key stakeholders involved in the TVET sector in Cambodia. The data collection for the second phase was completed in 2024. The findings will allow a broader perspective on the skills demand and existing challenges in skills development for the workforce. CDET (CDRI´s Research center for education) organised a one-week site visit for partner countries to discuss the status of the project implementation, research findings and analysis. A visit to the garment training institute and factory were also organised for knowledge exchange and experience sharing.
