Below, I summarize some of the achievements over the past two and a half years.\n\n- The expanded Farmer and Farm Registration module now includes institutional and commercial farms, as well as functionality for farmer-initiated registration requests. To date, 6.45 million farmers have been registered across 45 counties, representing a 96% coverage rate. Additionally, 15,870 agro-input dealers, 7,110 grain stockists, and 450 commercial and institutional farms have been registered. These figures mark a significant step toward digitizing and organizing agricultural data for improved service delivery, with detailed statistics available on the KIAMIS system dashboard.\n\n- Users in all 45 counties have been assigned access rights to the Farmer Registration module. However, further training and capacity building are needed to enable them to fully utilize the data for informed decision-making.\n\n- As part of expanding the KIAMIS ecosystem, six Digital Agriculture Solution providers have been integrated, including the National Fertilizer Subsidy Platform and the agricultural statistics portal, KilimoStat.\n\n- As part of building the capacity of personnel at both the county and national levels, 180 master trainers were trained comprising 90 ICT officers at the national level and 90 at the county level. Additionally, 1,200 trainers and 18,000 enumerators were trained across 45 counties to support farmer registration efforts.\n\n- In compliance with the Data Protection Act of 2019, FAO has supported the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development (MOALD) in developing a data governance framework. In collaboration with the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner, 200 government officials from both national and county levels have been trained on data governance concepts.\n\n- MOALD has rolled out a livestock insurance initiative that will automatically enroll all farmers registered on KIAMIS into the system (Kenya launches climate-smart insurance in fertilizer subsidy program). \n\n- To strengthen and expand the agricultural data ecosystem under the Government of Kenya (GoK) and World Bank (WB)-funded initiative, the Digital Agriculture Roadmap has designated KIAMIS as the backbone through which all other initiatives will be implemented.
