This initiative not only empowered young participants and equipped them with governancerelated skills, but also successfully positioned youth voices within national governance processes. The initiative served as a model for how civil society can meaningfully influence continental governance mechanisms.\n\nWork under Theme 2: Sustainable and Just Climate Transitions continued to elevate SAIIA as a technical leader in climate policy. The organisation contributed directly to the African Unions Climate Change and Resilient Development Strategy and supported regional bodies such as IGAD in strengthening their adaptation frameworks. At national level, SAIIA informed South Africas work on ecosystembased coastal and marine adaptation. These contributions ensured that key regional and continental climate policies were grounded in robust evidence and better aligned with African priorities for resilience and sustainability.\n\nDespite facing staff turnover, Theme 3: African Economic Resilience and Inclusion generated important outputs that influenced policy thinking on vulnerability and economic inclusion. The development of the Social Vulnerability Index and new climateeconomic indices attracted interest from institutions such as UNECA and helped deepen understanding of socioeconomic resilience across the continent. SAIIA also supported the ongoing implementation and monitoring mechanisms of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), contributing analytical tools that strengthened how progress is assessed and reported.\n\nNotable achievements were also from Theme 4: African Agency and International Relations, where SAIIA played a central role in shaping South Africas 2025 G20 Presidency. Its appointment as a colead of the G20 Think 20 (T20) process marked a significant milestone, elevating SAIIAs influence within global governance spaces. The organisations extensive media engagementover 260 appearances, exceeded targetsamplified African perspectives on global issues and strengthened SAIIAs international visibility. Its alignment with South African government departments and African diplomatic communities further reinforced the Institutes credibility as a policy thought leader.\n\nAcross all themes, SAIIA maintained its reputation for delivering highquality, evidencebased research while strengthening partnerships and expanding its reach. Challenges remain, particularly around internal capacity, sustainable funding and the need for more consistent crossprogramme collaboration. Yet the progress made this year demonstrates SAIIAs ability to adapt, innovate and lead within an increasingly complex policy environment.\n\nIn conclusion, SAIIAs performance over the year reflects a strong and resilient organisation that continues to shape policy conversations at national, regional and global levels.
