ZADT facilitated a supportive ecosystem that enabled women entrepreneurs to access tailored mentorship, peer support, and business proposal writing assistance.  As a result, 1,095 women were linked to financial institutions through loan submissions. Community-based engagement significantly improved the quality of proposals submitted and funded, helping to bridge the gap between training and access to finance. The additional capital enabled women entrepreneurs to expand operations and strengthen the long-term sustainability of their agribusinesses. As a result, US$780,181 was availed to women-led MSMEs. This exceeds the total project target by 150% and represents 129% achievement of the 2025 annual target.\n\nResult 2: Capacity of youth-led start-ups and growth-oriented agribusinesses to access financial services enhanced.\n\nThe CAUSEWAY Project strengthened collaboration with development partners, the private sector, and value chain stakeholders to provide targeted youth entrepreneurs with training, mentorship, and technical support, reaching 79% of 6000 target for youth with financial literacy training and back stopping support. A total of 920 youth managed to successfully submit bankable proposals to the bank. Of these, 817 youths, accessed US$462,480 in loans through the revolving fund to support business growth.\n\nHowever, comparison with the women-led component shows that youth entrepreneurs require more intensive and tailored support, including longer incubation periods, deeper mentorship, and youth specific financial products, to reach similar levels of financial readiness. Most key indicators therefore remain below both annual and cumulative targets, with slower progress observed along the finance readiness pathway. This is largely linked to structural constraints commonly faced by young entrepreneurs, such as limited collateral and less experience engaging with formal financial institutions. In response, the project will intensify tailored technical support and mentorship to increase the number of youths who develop and submit bankable proposals.\n\nResult 3: Business incubation and mentorship for youth pursuing tertiary agricultural education strengthened\n\nUnder this outcome, ZADT collaborated with 10 tertiary institutions to strengthen business incubation and mentorship for youth in tertiary education. The participating institutions supported students through access to productive assets, business mentorship, and pitching platforms for business ideas. In 2025, a total of 115 students were supported. Overall, US$59,742 in grants was disbursed, directly empowering young people to pursue agribusiness ventures that integrate traditional practices with modern technologies. This initiative also contributed to systemic change by embedding innovation, sustainability, and gender equity into the country's agribusiness landscape in alignment with Education 5.0 introduced by the government. Participating institutions further received support with infrastructure development such as borehole drilling, irrigation systems and revocations further strengthening their capacity to provide hands on learning for students. A total of 108 students had the opportunity to participate in field visits to commercially run agricultural entities enabling them to gain knowledge of the importance of financial planning, quality and standards, structured markets-\n\nResult 4: Capacity of commercial banks and microfinance institutions improved\n\nZADT worked with 10 participating financial institutions to develop tailor-made financial products for women and youth-led agribusinesses. Peer-assisted review sessions played a critical role in clarifying loan terms and conditions and strengthening engagement between entrepreneurs and financial institutions.\n\nCumulative loan disbursements reached US$1,620,702, of which US$426,425 went to repeat clients demonstrating confidence in the financial institutions in proving financial products to the businesses and trust by SMEs in the financial institutions as providers of loans to build their business. In total, 2,158 businesses benefited from improved access to finance. As of 31 December 2025, an additional US$165,000 had been unlocked from financial institutions as confidence grew in lending to women and youth-led enterprises.\n\nFinancial highlights\n\nThe financial report is prepared using historic cost accounting and main income is the grant income which is accounted for on cash basis when received. The report was submitted on 31 March 2025 and signed by the relevant signatories. It showed cumulative expenditures and incomes allowing for comparisons in the partner operational currency and approved budget. It covered period from inception which is 1 June 2023 to 31 December 2025. Partner received other income from FCDO for revolving fund and administration costs.\n\nZADT received total disbursements of SEK 25,000,000, equivalent to US$2,449,958 as of 31 December 2025. The overall expenditure rate 96%, leaving a balance of US$90,211, which was rolled over into the 2026 financial year. The appointed auditor, Nolands Chartered Accountants, conducted audits for both the 2024 and 2025 financial periods. The audit opinion confirms that the ZADT CAUSEWAY financial statements present a fair and true view of the accounts.\n\nZADT has submitted the work plan and budget for 2026 which has been approved.\n\nAudit\n\nThe audit was carried out in accordance with international audit standards (ISA) issued by IAASB applying ISA 800\u002FISA 805. In addition, an assignment according to International Standards on Related Services (ISRS) 4400 (Revised) also called agreed upon procedure was carried out. The audit and the additional assignment were carried out by an external, independent and qualified auditor who is Nolands Chartered accountants. The ISRS 4400 report showed that ZADT financial reporting is compliant with their accounting policies, and Sida's agreement on financial reporting.  Nolands audited ZADT applying ISA 800\u002FISA 805 and found that the expenditure verification report, in all material respects, gave a true and fair view of the projects receipts and payments for the period 1 January 2025 to 31 December 2025 and the position of the projects funds as at that date. Thus, ZADT received an unqualified audit opinion. \n\nThe auditor confirmed through the agreed upon procedures that the fund unspent fund balance of US$395,716 as of 31 December 2025 was in line with the accounting system and supported by the bank closing balance and bank confirmation. The auditor reviewed whether the financial report was presented against the latest approved budget, whether it showed outcomes per budget line and cumulative information. The auditors factual findings did not identify reportable exceptions and the areas reviewed. On this basis, the agreed upon procedures report supports the reasonableness of the financial report.\n\nThe report to management records one prior years matter relating to the tax treatment of airtime and data vouchers which has been resolved. There were no reportable issues raised in the current period. ZADTs management response acknowledges receipt of the report to management and confirms that no reportable issues were raised during the period. Therefore, the management response is considered sufficient for the current year\n\n Adaptive Management \n\n-During the reporting period, ZADT received £653,000 which is equivalent to US$887,469 additional funding from Foreign, Commonwealth Development Office (FCDO) for administration and revolving fund. Total funds for revolving funds from the start of the project increased to US$1,194,277. This included contributions from ZADT of US$134,150.00. Financial institutions provided repeat loans of US$426,425 demonstrating increased confidence in the businesses and financial institutions in working together.\n\n-As of April 2026, another financial institution (Banc ABC) was onboard and were able to disburse loans above the revolving fund limits using own funds. This demonstrated that where a relationship has been built; financial institutions are willing to use own funds by offering loans above the US$3,500 and ZADT was able to surpass the target of US$1,125,000 reaching US$1,360,981.\n\n-ZADT continued to use aggregator models for businesses which are not yet bankable to increase the number of businesses receiving financial support. Organizations such as Zimbabwe super Seeds and Reapers Zimbabwe continued to provide input banked loans to their partners.\n\n- ZADT partnered with Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) for capacity building efforts to strengthen their ability to access climate finance and build climate finance products for their clients. GGGI conducted a capacity gap assessment for ZADT and provided recommendations for tailored solutions which ZADT can use in the future to build their capacity in areas of climate finance. They were able to receive technical assistance in developing climate finance concept notes together with other stakeholders from the government and financial sector broadening their horizon for
