It will provide an evidence-based, transformational model of institutional support and capacity strengthening, fostering a rights-based and community-led approach that promotes women’s and youth participation in civic and public decision-making processes at all levels. This approach is conflict-sensitive and promotes peacebuilding through joint collaboration and engagement. The project will further promote collaboration among multiple stakeholders, including civil society organizations and movements, community members, and government representatives at all levels.\n\nSpecific objectives include:\n\nEmpowering targeted women’s movements and youth organizations for effective participation and representation in decision-making and peacebuilding processes at all levels by 2023.\nEnhancing the understanding of evolving laws among targeted women’s movements and youth organizations, identifying gaps, undertaking relevant advocacy, and participating in decision-making spaces at all levels.\nEnhancing economic empowerment for women and youth in targeted communities through improved business development skills and participation in community-driven and environmentally friendly micro-enterprises.\nThe project will target six coordination points of the Rien Sans Les Femmes (RSLF) movement in six provinces, involving 180 organizations and 500,000 women members. It will also target six provincial youth platforms in six provinces, involving 7,200 youth (1,200 per province). The project will operate in six provinces: Kinshasa, Sud-Kivu, Nord-Kivu, Tanganyika, Tshopo, and Ituri.\n\nIndirect beneficiaries will include at least 5 million people reached through women-focused activities, constituting 60% women, 15% men, and 25% young girls and boys. This includes an estimated 1 million people reached via focused social media activities. An additional 100,000 youth will be reached through youth engagement activities and links with universities, including an estimated 28,000 reached via focused social media activities. The total indirect beneficiaries are estimated at 5,100,000 people.\n\nSida assesses the network and role of CAFOD as a Faith-Based Organization (FBO) with many years of experience in development, humanitarian, and peace interventions globally. As a strong advocate for gender justice, CAFOD is a relevant partner engaged in transformational work for gender equality. Progressive faith-based movements promoting a positive discourse for gender equality need support, especially amid a growing backlash on gender equality and shrinking space for civil society, including from faith-based groups.\n\nAs a faith-based network, CAFOD is in a key position to address gender injustices by bridging the discourse of religion with that of secular and human rights, and by mobilizing faith leaders. As a key TFP project partner, CEJP played a central role in advancing peace and advocacy efforts by:\n\n1) Developing advocacy strategies and implementation plans in coordination with CENCO.\n2) Designing and disseminating advocacy messages focused on peace and social justice.\n3) Organizing stakeholder engagement meetings, both with government and civil society.\n4) COnducting media and outreach programmes targeting diverse audiences.\n5) Leveraging CEJP\u002FCENCOs national and diocesan networks to amplify project reach and ensure sustainability and ownership of results.\n\nCAFOD also supported CEJP with: Capacity building (organizational development, resource mobilization, programme management); Advocacy training (development of advocacy tools, strategies, and stakeholder linkages); Funding support (both through SIDA and internal CAFOD resources).\n\nCAFOD also supported a joint initiative between the National Episcopal Conference of Congo (CENCO) and the Church of Christ in Congo (ECC), aiming to promote peace and democratic processes. This initiative is known as the Social Pact for Peace and Good Living Together in the DRC and the Great Lakes Region, which seeks to: \noAddress the root causes of conflict in Eastern DRC.\noPromote lasting peace, national\u002Fregional cohesion, and peaceful coexistence.\n\nIn relation, a comprehensive report on activities (domestic and international) was submitted to President Tshisekedi.
