Sida funding awarded more than $1.4 million in grants to 42 organizations working within crisis response, climate justice, freedom from violence, sexual and reproductive justice, feminist approaches to anti-corruption, the Feminist Accountability Framework, and the Gender Justice Data Hub.\n\nWithin Crisis Response, three grants ($150,000) were awarded with Sida funding. GFW has continued to support local groups responding to both urgent and long-lasting crises. One example is Egna Legna, founded by Ethiopian domestic workers in Lebanon, which works to empower women, assist survivors of abuse under the kafala system, and influence trafficking-related policies in Ethiopia. With support from GFW, the organization has been able to provide safe shelter, food, hygiene supplies, and legal assistance to migrant women facing violence and exploitation. They operate a hotline, document rights violations, and advocate for policy reforms in both Lebanon and Ethiopia. Their approach not only provides immediate relief but also addresses long-term concerns affecting displaced migrant domestic workers.\n\nWithin Freedom from Violence, four grants ($245,600) were awarded with Sida funding. GFWs support to the CURE Foundation, under the MLA initiative in the Western Balkans, covered the costs of the second regional gathering, site visits to partner organizations, and core organizational support. CURE has enabled the distribution of 98 grants to organizations working on gender-based violence and related rights issues. This support has strengthened collaboration, peer learning, and joint prioritization among partner groups working to combat violence and discrimination.\n\nWithin Climate Justice, 13 grants ($525,000) were awarded with Sida funding. GFW has supported organizations working on climate adaptation in highly vulnerable regions. The Initiative for Climate and Environmental Health Development (ICEHD) in Nigeria works with young women and smallholder farmers through training in climate-smart agricultural practices. ICEHD has also engaged in national agricultural policy processes and contributed to integrating gender perspectives into climate and agricultural planning. The funding has helped the movement address capacity needs, ensure inclusive communication through translation and interpretation, and maintain coordinated advocacy at local, regional, and global levels.\n\nWithin Sexual and Reproductive Justice, 11 grants ($220,000) were awarded with Sida funding. GFW highlights Usikimye Community Based Organization in Kenya as an example of strengthened outcomes in this area. With support, Usikimye has expanded its work with survivors of violence and young women, improving access to safe and discreet SRJ-related information and services. Despite limited resources and increasing opposition to SRJ work, the organization has built a comprehensive support network and created new entry points for women and girls to access rights-based information and assistance. Their work illustrates how small grassroots organizations with strong community anchoring can continue advancing rights, reach marginalized groups, and contribute to shifting social norms in a context where SRJ issues remain highly sensitive.\n\nWithin Feminist Anti-Corruption, GFW has continued to strengthen local feminist actors and their capacity to work on corruption-related issues. The Anti-Corruption Advisory Group gathered 27 of 28 project groups in Mombasa for joint analysis and learning, highlighting recurring challenges such as political risks, normalized local corruption, and increasing security threats against activists. At the same time, concrete results have emerged, including efforts that made visible the gendered impacts of corruption in Armenia, strengthened young womens economic agency in Kenya, and the establishment of Haitis first feminist anti-corruption observatory. During FY26, the project will begin transitioning into a cross-cutting thematic area within GFWs broader strategy, with the Advisory Group continuing to support partners during the transition period.\n\nGFWs Gender Justice Data Hub, a strategic analytical tool used to identify and track feminist mobilization and movement dynamics in real time, has strengthened the organizations ability to direct support where needs are greatest. The work has provided deeper insights into the abortion rights movement in East Africa, where analysis of 125 groups revealed strong grassroots engagement, high levels of collaboration, and notable regional disparities in resource distribution. These insights have enabled GFW to better prioritize support to under-resourced actors, strengthen existing coalitions, and ensure that grantmaking aligns with the actual structure and needs of the movement ecosystem.\n\nGFW has also advanced local ownership by increasing the share of funding going to grassroots organizations, from 25% to over 40% of the portfolio which contributes directly to GFWs Strategic Objective 2 on refining grantmaking practices. Over the year, GFW has also undertaken strategic development work, including a shift toward a hybrid model that combines participatory grantmaking with reintroduced direct grantmaking. This transition aims to reach actors in highly restrictive environments and respond more effectively to rapidly evolving crises. These changes follow lessons from the internal and external evaluation of the Movement-Led Approach (MLA), which confirms that the model shifts power and expands support to marginalized groups, while also highlighting limitations in contexts where faster or more tailored mechanisms are needed.\n\nSidas funds have also contributed to strengthening Global Fund for Womens internal operational capacity, including making policies, financial systems, and databases more robust, defining roles and responsibilities more clearly, and reinforcing staffing in key teams to improve efficiency. The organization has improved its annual planning and budgeting processes, introduced new tools for cross-team coordination and monitoring, and implemented updates to performance management and internal learning systems. In addition, GFW has reinforced its institutional resilience by advancing risk-management frameworks, improving cybersecurity and content-risk procedures, and investing in organizational culture and staff support structures, enabling the organization to better navigate an increasingly complex political and funding landscape while maintaining strategic and programmatic
