Activities to identify and support women entrepreneurs, cooperatives, and exporters in the mango, avocado, and vegetable value chains. A comprehensive mapping exercise was conducted to assess supply chains, evaluate compliance with international export standards, and categorize enterprises based on their operational scale. Stakeholder consultations were held with exporters, cooperatives, processors, financial institutions, and trade facilitation bodies to inform  targeted interventions. Selection prioritized women led businesses already active in horticultural production, with demonstrated potential to scale into export markets.\n\n2.  Notable entities identified include Vert Limited, Hello Fresh Farm Limited, Iviani Farm, RTC Fruit Exporters, Makueni Fruit Processors, Kalamba Fruit Farmers, Kilungu Avocado Farmers Community Based Organization (CBO), and Kanoto Farmers Cooperative. Key challenges identified included low awareness of export standards, weak market linkages, and inadequate post harvest handling practices.\n\n3. During the April to June 2025 quarter, implementation progressed with a focus on strengthening the capacity of women led and women dominated groups. A total of 64 farmer groups were identified and vetted, comprising 1,396 members: 1,263 women and 133 men. The selection criteria focused on women's leadership and decision making roles. This sets the stage for targeted training in export readiness, financial literacy, governance, and sustainable production practices.\n\n4. A total of 20 training sessions were planned, two per sub county across 10 national government sub counties with each session expected to host approximately 55 participants. Coordination with national and county government structures is ongoing to ensure optimal geographic coverage and avoid duplication. Next steps include finalizing the training schedule and venue mapping, aligning session content and facilitation methodology, and developing tools to track gender dis aggregated outcomes.\n\n5. Integration of a gender focused approach is to programming was achieved to drive inclusive trade by enhancing the capacity of women led enterprises to access and thrive in export oriented horticulture markets. \n\n6. Interactive workshops with practical simulations and peer mentoring were conducted for the mango farmers. At least 50% of participants achieved export compliance certifications within six months, securing a minimum of 15 new export contracts or partnerships with regional buyers (e.g., via AfCFTA platforms).\n\nResults will be updated following submission of the annual report in January.
