The Kosovo Agency of Statistics (KAS) strengthened its planning, clarified its goals, and improved its systems for tracking progress. This work has made KAS better equipped to produce reliable statistics and to modernise how it collects and processes data.\n\nKey achievements\n1. Economic statistics improved\n\nThe Producer Price Index, which tracks how prices change for businesses, was updated to use 2021 as its base year and now uses a revised sample. This makes the data more accurate for government planning and business decisions.\n\nProblems that had prevented the Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices from being sent to Eurostat were fixed. Kosovo can once again share its inflation data with European partners.\n\n2. Household Budget Survey redesigned\n\nThe survey was updated to meet European Union standards and now includes data on informal economic activity. This will provide better information on household income and spending, which is used by the Ministry of Finance and social protection authorities.\n\n3. Gender statistics strengthened\n\nThe programme now has a stronger focus on providing data that supports genderequality policies. Existing products were reviewed, and work began on a new Gender Equality Index that will show where gender gaps exist.\n\n4. Better use of administrative registers\n\nKAS signed an agreement with the Civil Registration Agency to access population register data. This will allow KAS to build a new Statistical Population Register by combining civil registration data with census data. The register will reduce duplication and improve the quality of future statistics.\n\n5. More secure and efficient production processes\n\nWork began on a digital production manual, which will standardise how KAS produces statistics and reduce reliance on individual staff members.\n\nA new Information Security Management System was prioritised to strengthen data security. A plan was agreed to move servers to a secure data centre and improve how data is shared with other institutions.\n\nImpact on different groups\nIn 2024, 60% of KAS staff trained in price statistics and data security were women. This helps to build gender balance in technical roles and strengthen womens participation in key statistical
