The countries share a common history as a junction between East and West, where ethnic groups have met, empires have emerged, fought and transformed. The countries share their experience as former Soviet states with lingering legacies of, for example, the Russian language and a bureaucratic state administration.\n\nMoldova is a small country with high levels of poverty, which for a couple of years has been undergoing several extensive changes in politics, security, economy and trade, as well as state administration. The demanding and complex reform processes for EU integration have already created tangible results, which in turn provide resilience to societal challenges. EU integration carries great and positive opportunities for the country’s peace, security and development, and continued investment in this process is required. At the same time, there are risks of tensions, division and societal conflicts that are reinforced by hybrid threats and influence from Russia. The unresolved conflict over the breakaway region of Transnistria also characterises the country.\n\nFBA has focused and increased its support to meet the needs of Eastern Europe, to effectively counter threats to democracy and promote peace and stability. FBA contributes primarily through various types of support to contribute to increased resilience in the region to strengthen trust in society and to prevent conflicts.\n \nFBA supports the ability of the Moldovan state administration to conduct effective reform, to integrate gender equality in the security sector and to strengthen the state's resilience against hybrid threats, for example through training and technical advice. FBA also supports Moldova's EU accession, by offering technical support on key issues for EU integration, but also by promoting team and leadership development of the national EU office. To promote the conditions for confidence-building and peace processes, FBA offers capacity-building support in areas such as negotiation, dialogue and inclusion to strategic national actors and processes.\n\nIn addition to support for Moldova, FBA also contributes to Armenia, including by strengthening the work of key actors in protecting free elections.",{"lang":209,"value":219},"Östeuropa är en komplex och mångfacetterad region, rik i sin egen historia, men som också på flera plan befinner sig ”i mitten” mellan öst\u002FRyssland och väst\u002FEuropa. Den olösta konflikten om utbrytarregionen Transnistrien präglar även landet.\n\nFBA bedriver omfattande bilateralt stöd till Ukraina, och utöver detta, även stöd till övriga Östeuropa, framför allt Moldavien, Armenien och Georgien. FBA har under de senaste åren kraftsamlat och ökat sitt stöd för att möta Östeuropas och Moldaviens behov, för att effektivt motverka hoten mot demokrati och främja fred och stabilitet.
