This is a major endorsement from the government's side to take forward good practices to improve the safety of students. \n\nOther achievements include the rapid assessment on SGBV increasing trends during the pandemic, gender audit of print media as well as the production of videos showcasing successful women in different areas of work and academia. These particular videos have been shared on the Embassy social media and had received one of the highest views and reaction. \n\nIA had already been engaged in voter education with the proper licensing from the National election board of Ethiopia before the House of Federation postponed the national elections. There was a field visit conducted on the first quarter of 2020 where we had the opportunity to witness a training held for first time voters in a high school in Hawassa. The cooperation partner was able to use different tools to gauge level of interests from participants and use the occasion to discuss other issues of participation that the youth were facing. \n\nSeen how the cooperation partner rose up to the challenge of adapting to fluid context, Sweden believed that extending the programme with a slightly different focus was necessary. As such a decision was taken to extend the programme with the main focus on facilitating peace building and dialogue with the engagement of the business community especially in conflict ridden areas. \n\n\nPhase II\nkey impact level achieved in the second phase includes;\n1. The contribution was instrumental in helping businesses more specifically and private sector associations in general, to be motivated to rethink and redesign their engagement in peace building initiatives,\n2. Partnership and platforms forged with key institutions will serve a catalytic role in bringing organized voices of the private sector,\n3. the program supported the creation of knowledge and demonstrate information established and analyzed at the local level,\n4. Business membership organizations (BMOs) have demonstrated that they are embedding the work of peace into the works of their associations and have now begun to proactively engage in this space\n\nKey results achievement assessed to be made with this contribution include;\nI. The conclusive and remarkable effect of the project is an improved understanding of the role businesses can play in peace building among key and influential institutions.\nII. The contribution has helped a formalized strategic partnership with the Ministry of Peace, the National Dialogue Commission (NDC) and National Rehabilitation Commission (NRC) to strengthen and facilitate private sector engagement in peace building and rehabilitation efforts.  \nIII. Technical assistance provided to support business associations to work with their members to integrate peace building strategies into their operations and CSR activities, including a catered support to the Addis Ababa Chamber of Commerce and Sectoral Association to organize a consecutive platform to launch a city-wide discussion on national dialogue and peace building. This has created an opportunity to launch the Ethiopia Global compact program.\nIV. Selected business leaders have acquired and used proven skills on how to integrate peace issues into their business plans with policy paper presentations to recommend strategic directions and solutions.\nV. Supported national, regional and local level platforms to convene private and public actors in one space. The platforms has envisioned regional expansion to look at cross-border and cross-cultural themes focused on Business and Peace,\nVI. initiated and supported the first two cohorts of Business and peace building fellowship programs in partnership with the institute for Peace and Security Studies (IPSS) of Addis Ababa University.   \nVII. The partnership between Initiative Africa and Institute for Security Studies (ISS) has given ISS the opportunity to do outreach to the Ethiopian private sector in local peace building. The collaboration has led to research pieces to understand and build a body of knowledge on Business and Peace.
