Transforming Legal Systems ICJ\nwork drove concrete legal and policy\nchanges across regions. In Nepal, the parliament passed an amended\nTransitional Justice Act incorporating several ICJproposed\namendments that\nstrengthen protections for sexual violence survivors, although there is more work\nto be done. The ICC Prosecutor cited five key ICJ arguments in defending the\nCourt's jurisdiction over Palestine. Courts in multiple countries, from Nepal's\nHigh Court upholding children's education rights to South Africa's Constitutional\nCourt on military justice adopted ICJ legal positions in landmark rulings.\n\n5. Strengthening the legal profession's capacity to uphold human rights ICJ\nachieved institutional reforms in Uzbekistan, where we established the firstever\nmandatory international human rights law course in judicial training, ensuring all\nfuture judges receive human rights education. Through targeted capacity\nbuilding, ICJ equipped over 1,800 lawyers, judges, and human rights defenders\nwith practical skills and international legal knowledge. The Asia Regional\nDisability Rights conference brought together 120 participants from 15 countries,\nand resulted in the Kathmandu Declaration, which is driving regional legal\nreform. Young lawyers mentored in Nepal are now winning cases on education\nprivatization citing\nthe Abidjan Principles.\n\n6. Expanding Access to Justice ICJ\ndirect assistance reached those most in\nneed: 26 victims of human rights violations received legal support in Colombia,\nwhile 344 LGBTIQ violation cases were documented and submitted to\nauthorities in Sri Lanka. Twelve strategic litigation submissions were adopted by\ncourts, creating precedents that protect vulnerable communities. The\ndocumentation networks ICJ trained in Afghanistan, Libya, and Myanmar are\nnow building evidence bases for future accountability processes.\n\n7. Advancing Global Standards The\nICJ developed 8 March Principles\npromoting a human rights based\napproach to criminal law gained international\ntraction, with UN Special Rapporteurs, government officials, and courts across\nfour continents referencing them in official documents and decisions.
