AMR also threatens to jeopardise the global community's progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals. Without coordinated and intensified action, the world risks ending up in a so-called \"post-antibiotic era\" where common infections can again become fatal and medical routine procedures become associated with high risk.\n\nIn 2019, in the work to strengthen advocacy, political commitments and intersectoral approaches in the fight against AMR, the AMR MPTF was established as a funding mechanism to support FAO, WHO and OIE respectively, together called the Tripartite. The aim is to secure continuous and coordinated funding to enable the development and implementation of national action plans against AMR (AMR NAPs); The Tripartite's joint work plans against AMR and to support the implementation of relevant SDGs as well as the implementation of some of the recommendations issued by IACG AMR.\n\nAMR MPTF thus supports joint and coordinated activities based on the Tripartite's AMR work plans at global, regional and national level with a focus on low- and middle-income countries with the aim to catalyze action at national level and generating sustainable results. På så vis skapas en helhetsbild av AMR och bättre beslutsunderlag än separata system.\n\nNär Fonden etablerades år 2019 utgjordes de implementerande parterna av WHO, FAO och WOAH (World Organisation for Animal Health). År 2021 tillkom UNEP (United Nations Environmental Program) vartefter den sk. Tripartiten tog namnet Kvadripartiten.\n\nOne Health-insatser faller ofta mellan sektorsbudgetar. AMR MPTF finansierar just dessa tvärgående aktiviteter och gör det således möjligt att genomföra åtgärder som annars inte hade erhållit finansiering.\n\nEtt annat stort mervärde är även Fondens katalytiska funktion dvs den är inte enbart en finansieringskanal utan det finns indikationer på att MPTFbidrag utlöser ytterligare finansiering från andra utvecklingspartners (eg. utvecklingsbanker) och inte minst från länderna själva.\n\nUngefär 80?% av alla oöronmärkta medel till Fonden, efter direkta kostnader, kanaliseras till genomförandet av landprojekt, medan cirka 20?% avsätts till globala program som i sin tur stödjer länder genom gemensamma verktyg och resurser.
