Teachers improved teaching quality and child centred practices\n\n- Teachers trained in Psycho-social support, Social and Emotional Learning, Psychological First Aid, Safe Identification and Referral, and subject knowledge.\n\n- Regular mentoring by master trainers strengthened classroom practice.\n\nBehavioural change among teachers\n\nTeachers adopted nonviolent, supportive approaches:\n\n\"The teacher never punished or resorted to violence Its a good place to learn.\" (Boy, Jawzjan)\n\nThis reflects a shift toward positive discipline, safer classrooms, and better learning outcomes.\n\nOutcome 1.3. Communities became active supporters of education\n\n- Community Education Committees and Shuras met 24 times per month to monitor attendance, safety, and teacher performance.\n\n- Communities helped reduce absenteeism, rehabilitate classrooms, and advocate for girls education.\n\nBehavioural change among communities\n\nParents and elders increasingly supported girls education:\n\n- Parents became more supportive of their childrens education, especially girls.\n\n- Communities also requested additional CBE classes, showing strong ownership.\n\nStrategic Goal 2  Child Protection: Key Results and Behavioural Change\n\nOutcome 2.1. Communitybased child protection systems strengthened\n\n- 100 Community Based Child Protection Networks strengthened (1,000 members).\n\n- Members trained in child rights, Psycological First Aid, Safe Identification Referral, Mental Health and Psycho-Social Support, gender from an Islamic perspective.\n\n- 15,371 community members participated in Mental Health and Psycho-Social Support dialogues.\n\nBehavioural change among community actors\n\nCommunity Based Child Protection Networks (CBCPN):\n\nPrevented child marriages, Reenrolled children in school, Convinced parents to stop physical punishment and Intervened in child labour cases \n\nMany CBCPN members changed harmful practices at the family level before spreading the message.\n\nThis shows internalisation of child protection norms.\n\nOutcome 2.2. Case management and referral systems improved\n\n- 1,813 children received individualised case management (target: 1,712).\n\n- Children received support for abuse, neglect, child labour, and health issues.\n\n- 1,332 children obtained National ID cards (NID), enabling access to services.\n\nBehavioural change among families\n\nFamilies increasingly sought help and accepted referrals, reflecting growing trust in protection services.\n\nOutcome 2.3. Coordination among child protection actors strengthened\n\nSave the Children International Afghanistan coled the Child Protection Area of Responsibility, improving:\n\n- Service mapping\n\n- Referral pathways\n\n- Case management standards (CPIMS)\n\n- Advocacy with Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs (MoLSA)\n\nBehavioural change among authorities\n\nThe de facto authorities representatives showed:\n\n- Increased understanding of child protection\n\n- Greater acceptance of communitybased approaches\n\n- Support for establishing a department for girls and womens affairs within MoLSA\n\nThis marks a shift in institutional attitudes.\n\nOutcome 2.4. Children accessed safe spaces and resilience programmes\n\n- 4,843 children enrolled in Child-Friendly Space (target: 4,600).\n\n- 3,234 adolescents participated in Youth Resilience Programme.\n\n- 3,217 children reached through the Shabnam & Shadab modality.\n\n- 2,852 children attended Community Children Centres (target: 1,700).\n\nBehavioural change among children\n\nChildren demonstrated:\n\n- Improved emotional regulation Increased confidence Better communication and conflictresolution skills\n\nParents confirmed these changes:\n\nOur children have learned a lot we have seen them grow in their reading, writing, and math skills.\n\nOutcome 2.5. Families adopted positive parenting and genderequitable practices\n\n- 4,694 parents\u002Fcaregivers trained (target: 4,169).\n\n- Safe Families and Fatherhood modules reduced harmful discipline.\n\nBehavioural change among parents\n\nParents reported:\n\n- Reduced physical punishment\n\n- Improved communication\n\n- More equitable gender attitudes\n\n- Stronger emotional bonds with children\n\nParents acknowledged past harmful practices and expressed commitment to changing these behaviours.\n\nFathers began sharing household responsibilities and adopting nonviolent parenting.\n\nOutcome 2.6. Children meaningfully participated in protection and community decisionmaking\n\n- 5,047 children participated in Child Led Participatory Situation Analysis (target: 4,600).\n\n- Children identified risks such as violence, unsafe water, child labour, and school access barriers.\n\n- Their recommendations shaped CBCPN action plans and Civil Society Organisation initiatives.\n\nBehavioural change among children and adults\n\nChildren became active agents of change, and adults increasingly valued childrens voices:\n\n- District Child Protection Action Network repaired a bridge after children highlighted safety risks.\n\n- Communities acted on childrens concerns about violence and discrimination.\n\nOther results\n\nIntegrated Community Children Centre (CCC) Modality  Transformative Results\n\nThe CCC model combined education, protection, livelihoods, and parenting support.\n\nKey results\n\n- 2,030 children and families supported in Kabul and other provinces.\n\n- Catchup classes improved literacy and numeracy.\n\n- Income Generating Activities and multi-purpose cash assistance reduced reliance on child labour.\n\n- Parenting sessions strengthened family relationships.\n\nBehavioural change\n\n- Families shifted from child labour to schooling.\n\n- The de facto authorities strongly supported the CCC model, enabling scaleup.\n\n- Children gained
