Through their work, the humanitarian actors in the system can be held accountable for shortcomings and misconduct in activities. THN's reporting also draws attention to crises that have fallen into the shadow of the media, and their work can, by focusing the spotlight on humanitarian needs that have not been met, influence donor flows and decisions on funding. TNH affects not only donors but also decision-making processes in the countries where the crises take place. Some examples of the success presented for 2024 include:\n\n- Publishing 414 reports\n- Recognised with 5 awards and nominations\n- 305 000 social media followers\n- 335 000 views on Youtube\n\n2024 was the deadliest year on record for aid workers and journalists faced\nunprecedented threats such as targeted killings and systematic disinformation\ncampaigns. Despite this, TNHs commitments and journalism contributed to\nshaping localisation debates, exposed sexual abuse by aid workers and peacekeepers, and influenced asylum policies. \n\nThe biannual audience survey confirmed that their journalism remained a key catalyst for action across the humanitarian sector with more than 80% of readers claiming that reporting pushed them to explore new topics, while 78% say it drove them to conduct further research or advocacy on certain topics. In addition, readers continued to turn to TNH for expert insights, reinforcing the need for their role in informing, facilitating, and reporting on humanitarian crises across the world.\n\nThroughout the year TNH's reporting has been praised by its audience as an\ninvaluable source of information for humanitarian policy makers and practitioners\nwhile ICVA has mentioned TNH's insightful way of reporting on localisation and\nissues connected thereto. In addition, TNH has been praised particulary for its\ncoverage of issues related to detention of Venezuelans in the United States.\n\nBelow follows concrete examples of topics and events covered by TNH in 2024:\n\n- In April TNH investigated Egypt's detention and deportation of\nSudanese refugees in collaboration with the Refugees Platform in Egypt. The\ninvestigation was cited by the Global Detention Project, used by Amnesty\nInternational and Human Rights Watch reports and prompted internal reviews by\nEuropean awareness. It was also shortlisted for the 2024 Fetisov Award for\nOutstanding Investigative Reporting.\n- In December TNH conducted an investigation discussing targeting of aid workers and starvation in northern Gaza. This investigation was submitted as evidence to the ICC and shared with stakeholders in the active genocide case in the ICJ. The investigation was also\ncited in UK and US parliamentary discussions, translated and published in\nArabic and shared across humanitarian networks.\n- Throughout the year TNH continued to drive accountability on sexual abuse in the aid\nsector. TNH made an investigation into reports of sexual abuses in the Central\nAfrican Republic. Something that prompted both MINUSCA and the\ngovernment to make official responses. In addition, TNH's investigation into the\nlargest sexual abuse scandal in the Democratic Republic of Congo was\nreferenced in a 2024 MOPAN assessment.\n\nAdditional situations that were covered by TNH include the worlds fastest growing but most neglected humanitarian crises in Burkina Faso, the unprecedented aid worker death toll in Gaza and the war with Israel, the fast-changing war in Myanmar, Haiti and the Kenya-led police\nmission, the perilous migrant route along the Darien Gap between Colombia and Panama, the Taliban's policies on women and girls in Afghanistan, the siege and
