Det arbete som utförts har syftat till ett klimatanpassat jordbrukssystem i kombination med skydd av landskapets mangroveområden i två byar. Utifrån bästa praxis inom jordbruk och risodling har deltagarna lärt sig hur renovering av hydrauliksystem och vattenförvaltning på lokalsamhällesnivå skyddar mot erosion, saltvatteninträngning och okontrollerade vattenflöden i mangroveområden. Lokal produktivitet och tryggad livsmedelsförsörjning har gått hand i hand med skydd av ekosystemet. \n\nMed hjälp av klimatresilienta metoder har programmet bidragit till moderniserad infrastruktur för bevattning med två vattenbassänger, en 4 000-liters vattentank, och ett solcellsdrivet pumpsystem, anslutet till en djup brunn, samt i övrigt förbättrad vatteninfrastruktur. Detta har sammantaget resulterat i bättre möjligheter att producera basgrödor. Genom att deras inkomstmöjligheter på den lokala marknaden främjats har aktiviteterna bidragit till tryggad livsmedelsförsörjning för hushållen. Aktiviteterna bidrog även till att resiliensen, särskilt hos de 70 deltagande kvinnorna i tre sparande- och lånegrupper (Groupes dÉpargne et de Crédit pour la Conservation de la Mangrove\u002FMangrove Conservation Savings and Loan Group; GECCOM), stärkts. \n\nParallellt har programmet arbetat med att stärka försörjningsmöjligheterna och motståndskraften hos medlemmarna i 18 andra GECCOMs, främst bland kvinnor. Även dessa grupper nyttjades som ingång för att bygga förståelse för hur hushållsekonomin i deras livsmiljöer beror av funktionella mangroveekosystem. Som resultat av den utbildning de erbjöds stärktes kvinnornas ekonomiska egenmakt liksom den säsongsmässiga livsmedelstryggheten. Totalt nåddes närmare 4 300 personer. Sida bedömer att organisationens stöd till GECCOM-grupper utgör investeringar i en ansats som direkt kopplar samman finansiell inkludering, ledarskap på lokalsamhällsnivå, och hållbart skydd av mangroveekosystem.\n\n- I Etiopien har våtmarksrestaurering kombinerats med tillämpning av W4R-modellens deltagandekomponent och en resultatbaserad finansieringsmetod. Sex lokalsamhällesorganisationer (CBOs) involverades i mark- och vattenvårdsåtgärder för att bl.a förhindra avrinning, motverka erosion och höja grundvattennivån i landskapet. Startfinansiering utgick till deltagande CBOs, baserat på deras inlämnade affärsplaner. Utbetalningen av ersättningsmedel kopplades sedan till verifiering av kvaliteten på de naturbaserade lösningar som byggts upp. Metoden visade hur lokalsamhällsdrivet arbete kan kombineras med praktiska lokala incitament som även bidrar till att stärka transparens och ansvarsutkrävande. Metoden förbättrade även de lokala försörjningsmöjligheterna.
