The Embassy´s assessment is that FAO has established strategic dialogue and coordinated commitments with 43 stakeholders, demonstrating the important articulating and complementary role of international cooperation in building on previous experiences in Cauca and other regions.  \n\nThe first output, \"Prioritized communities of small livestock farmers in the Department of Cauca have adopted sustainable community livestock farming practices, thereby transforming their productive, social, and commercial processes,\" is 50% complete.  The second output of Communities and institutions have implemented environmentally sustainable practices and ecosystem management tools, is 39% completed.  The third output, \"Communities of small-scale producers\u002Ffarmers have increased the productivity and competitiveness of their sustainable farming enterprises\u002Fassociations,\" is 22% completed.  The fourth output: The local community actors have implemented a territorial information system thereby strengthening their milk collection processes and supporting an integrated territorial transformation has 13% of progress.  \n\nThe first activity implemented was the baseline collection to analyze the quantity and quality of milk produced, the costs analysis, the commercial processes, the gender and environmental issues. Then, a specific action plan was proposed for 398 participating families. 24 agreements with 24 reference farms were signed, considering their strategic location and participant´s commitment. The action plan also started with the creation of committees and productions hubs that implements the horizontal governance structures. Other important result was the creation of sustainable schools networks that includes 304 participants (teachers and students. 158 men and 146 women) from 5 local schools to Integrate academic training with practical agricultural knowledge and adapt teaching methods to the realities and challenges of the context. In addition, they have created 5 communication groups (one for each municipality and two in Silvia), including young participants \n\nParticipants have started with common planning to promote ecological connectivity between farms. In the production hubs they have started learning about agroecological production, soil fertilization, silvopastoral systems, animal nutrition among others. On average, the 33 nodes have already produced 200 litters of organic liquid fertilizers. Nearly 60% of participating families have reduced their use of chemical inputs, through composting and using natural plant care products.\n\nIn terms of water conservation, 68% of the nodes protect water sources through strategic isolation, and 15% have re-forested areas around bodies of water.  In the 21 reference farms they have started seeding silvopastoral systems with native species, adapted to each altitude.  They have changed 45 hectares of traditional grasslands to silvopastoral systems with approximately 50,000 linear meters of living fences that incorporate native species. These interventions improve productivity, connect forest fragments, and increase biodiversity. Six nurseries have been established to date, and the goal is to reach 24 nurseries.\n\nParticipants received training in financial instruments, production costs, associativity, animal care among other issues. At the technical production level, the committees have made progress in evaluating milk quality parameters with the support of the commercial ally, ALIVAL. They have identified production and quality factors and implemented guidelines and improvement practices, achieving better quality and price indicators.  According to the results analysis from ALIVAL, a global analysis showed a 34.5% increase in hygiene quality (CFU). In addition, with the technical support in the following areas: 1. Feed and Nutritional Management, 2. Forage; 3. Milk Quality and Handling; 4. Animal Health; 5. Fertility and Reproduction; 6. Farm Management, there was an increase of 6.06 liters\u002Fhectare\u002Fday to 6.73 liters\u002Fhectare\u002Fday. This represents an 11.06% increase, compared to the baseline. Finally, with the training in financial education, they have already created 6 rotary funds with more than $92million COP in savings. \n\nIn March 2024 and March 2025, the Embassy accompany territorial workshops where a fluent dialogue with the local authorities, universities, local producers and national institutions working in Cauca were held.  These field visits were also evidence of the achieved results.
