In a context marked by democratic backsliding, shrinking civic space and growing anti-gender narratives, reported results in terms of strengthened leadership, advocacy capacity and regional articulation among women and their organizations, contributing to more inclusive and representative democratic processes.\n\nUnder Result 1, the Program strengthened the capacity of feminist and womens organizations to promote and exercise womens political rights. During 2025, more than 3,800 participations -84% women- were reported in training, dialogue and organizational strengthening processes. According to Diakonia and its implementing partners women leaders, candidates, elected officials and rights defenders improved their ability to exercise political rights, identify barriers to participation and political violence, and engage in advocacy processes. Examples from Peru, Colombia, Paraguay, Bolivia and Guatemala indicate stronger understanding of the electoral systems, capacity to participate in politics, ability to exercise civic oversight on electoral processes, increased collective organization to advance common goals and engage more effectively in public affairs. The Program also maintained a focus on women facing intersecting barriers to participation, including Indigenous, Afro-descendant, rural and young women. Importantly, out of the total participations in training processes in 2024 and 2025, more than 2,700 corresponded to women in political leadership roles, candidacies or decision-making spaces. \n\nThrough Result 2, the Program supported womens organizations and allied actors to advance parity democracy and address political violence against women. Reported results suggest that participating organizations translated training and dialogue processes into advocacy actions, including policy proposals, public positioning, strategic litigation and engagement with institutional actors and regional mechanisms. In Mexico, implementing partners contributed to the defense of parity regulations before the Electoral Tribunal of Jalisco through a joint amicus curiae. In Peru, advocacy efforts helped sustain discussions on parity and violence against women in politics despite a restrictive political environment, while in Guatemala Indigenous and feminist organizations succeeded in placing gender parity, alternation and Indigenous womens political participation on the national public agenda. The Program also supported collective responses to violence against women in politics in Bolivia, Peru, and Guatemala and generated evidence on barriers to womens political participation in Honduras. At the regional level, partners contributed to discussions within the Follow-up Mechanism to the Belém do Pará Convention (MESECVI), and the XVI Regional Conference on Women, helping sustain regional standards on parity and political participation. \n\nUnder Result 3, the Program contributed to positioning a regional public agenda for democracy grounded in principles of justice, parity and secularism. Through the campaign Somos la mitad, Queremos paridad (We Are Half, We Want Parity), partners adapted a common regional narrative to diverse political, cultural and territorial contexts, helping position gender parity as a democratic issue rather than solely an electoral reform. The campaign was particularly relevant in countries with pre-electoral or electoral contexts like Bolivia, Honduras, Paraguay, Colombia, and Peru. Through the campaign the Program also strengthened the communication capacities of partner organizations through a shared regional identity for the Program, communication tools, digital diagnostics and technical support. \n\nIn parallel, collaboration with the polling initiative Barometer of the Americas 2025\u002F26 generated evidence on public attitudes toward womens political participation in selected countries, providing valuable information to inform future advocacy and communication strategies. Participation in regional spaces such as the II Inter-Movement Meeting of Latin America and the Caribbean and the Creo y Defiendo (I believe, I defend) initiative further connected parity democracy with broader debates on democracy, human rights, secularism and resistance to anti-rights movements, strengthening alliances among feminist and democratic actors across the
