Following the training, CSOs began integrating and applying the tools directly in their programming and community dialogue work.\n\n- Small grants to emerging CSOs: Eight emerging CSOs received small grants and applied conflict analysis training to design and implement locally tailored interventions across ten regions, reaching thousands of community members.\n\n- Strengthened resource mobilization capacity: Resource mobilization and financial sustainability training were provided to around 23 CSOs, improving their ability to plan and manage financial sustainability more strategically. Following the training, seven CSOs developed their firstever resource mobilization strategies, while most others revised existing ones. Three CSOs also successfully accessed new funding from donors including the EU, Austrian Embassy, and Canadian Embassy.\n\n- Enhanced CSO coordination and policy influence: LPI supported platforms that convened around 3040 CSOs to share experiences, learn, and collaborate. Through this coordination, CSOs moved from fragmented efforts to more strategic, collective advocacy, and a new network was formed that is already actively convening CSOs despite not yet being formally registered. Coordinated CSO input to the Ministry of Justice contributed to the removal of some restrictive provisions in the controversial draft CSO law. \n\nPillar - Two \n\nStrengthened student leadership and conflict management capacity: Training in dialogue facilitation, conflict analysis, and leadership was provided to 50 student leaders and moderators at Hawassa and Mekelle universities. As a result, students improved their ability to facilitate dialogue on sensitive issues such as ethnicity, mediate peer conflicts, and adopt more inclusive, dialoguecentered leadership practices.\n\nImproved trust and intergroup relationships among students in campuses: Trained students facilitated over 200 dialogue sessions involving over 250 students from diverse ethnic and religious backgrounds. These sessions enabled students to move from mistrust and isolation toward empathy, friendship, and collaboration, contributing to stronger peer relationships and an increased sense of safety and belonging on campus.\n\nIncreased student-led peace initiatives and collective action: Dialogue participants (250 students) translated learning into practical action through campus peace initiatives, including peer-support activities, recreation events, skills-sharing workshops, and peace promotion campaigns. These campus-wide peace actions engaged more than 2,900 students, university staff, and administrators in promoting peaceful coexistence and celebrating diversity.\n\nInstitutionalized universitycommunity dialogue platforms: The dialogue processes started since the start of the programm in 2023 culminated during the reporting period with the establishment of structured platforms between universities and surrounding communities, transforming previously ad hoc and crisisdriven interactions into regular, formalized engagement. This led to jointly agreed action plans and the signing of commitment statements that provided a foundation for sustained collaboration and conflict resolution beyond the project period.\n\nImproved campuscommunity security and reduced crime rates: Joint dialogue and collaboration between universities and surrounding communities contributed to the recovery of stolen university assets and a reduction in crime rates in surrounding areas, as reported by local authorities. These outcomes reflect improved trust, coordination, and shared responsibility between universities and communities.  \n\nPillar - Three \n\nStrengthened community capacity for dialogue and conflict transformation: A total of 48 community members were trained in conflict analysis and dialogue facilitation. They subsequently facilitated 296 community dialogue sessions across 20 conflicts affected kebeles in Dire Dawa, Shashemene, Bale Goba and Harar engaging 931 community members in analyzing conflict drivers and identifying locally led peacebuilding solutions. The dialogues helped communities develop a more shared understanding of the underlying causes of local conflicts beyond immediate triggers.\n\nEnhanced community collective action through reconciliation: Dialogue processes contributed to the reconciliation of long-standing interpersonal, interreligious, and community disputes that had remained unresolved for years.\n\nCommunities translated dialogue into collective peace action: Dialogue processes generated more than 20 community-led peace actions, including peace walks, cultural festivals, reconciliation events, awareness campaigns, mediation initiatives, and community peace education activities.\n\nSustainable local peace infrastructures established: The programme established community peace committees, reconciliation committees, school peace clubs, and peace ambassador networks to strengthen local capacity for conflict prevention and mediation beyond the project period. In Dire Dawa, the first Community Mediation Centre was established in partnership with local authorities, providing a locally owned mechanism for resolving disputes outside the formal justice system. In addition, school peace clubs introduced peer mediation and peace education in 13 secondary schools, strengthening youth engagement in peacebuilding and creating networks for continued collaboration.\n\nPillar Four\n\nStrengthened civil society influence and participation in national peace processes: Civil society engagement in the National Dialogue process became more structured, coordinated, and influential through strengthened partnerships between ECSOC, CSOs, and the National Dialogue Commission (NDC). Joint committees, quarterly review platforms, and regular consultation mechanisms enabled CSOs to provide coordinated input and monitor dialogue processes more effectively.\n\nResearch and scholarly evidence informed National Dialogue and transitional justice: LPI-supported research and dialogue processes involving historians and scholars from Ethiopian universities generated evidence-based inputs for the National Dialogue Commission on contentious historical and governance issues. To strengthen civil society engagement in transitional justice, LPI supported the establishment of a CSO Transitional Justice Reference Group, providing a platform for coordination, information sharing, and collective engagement. Training on human rights documentation, survivor protection, and victim-centred approaches further strengthened CSOs' capacity to contribute to future transitional justice processes.\n\nAdvanced the Youth, Peace and Security (YPS) agenda: LPI contributed to the development of Ethiopias first Youth, Peace and Security National Action Plan. It convened a national youth forum with 250 participants across Ethiopia who contributed to the action plan, engaged in dialogue on peace and governance issues and jointly developed the Addis Declaration on Peace. The declaration was formally submitted to the Ministry of Women and Social Affairs (MoWSA).\n\nContributed to policy dialogue and preventive diplomacy: LPI provided policy analysis and conflict assessments that informed the international community about the conflict dynamics in Tigray and Ethiopia-Eritrea relations during a period of heightened tension. Through engagement with Nordic and other international partners, LPI contributed to identifying opportunities for dialogue, preventive diplomacy, and conflict
