The project is a project support and will address socio-environmental issues that are critical for transboundary nature protection (mainly biological diversity and climate) in Latin America.  It will focus on three key transboundary landscapes in Latin America, where WWF will aim to involve, empower, strengthen their voice, and pursue greater equity for IPLCs to be active in the pursuit of sustainable development that benefits people and nature.These landscapes are home to indigenous and local communities, who can play a key role in sustainable development, but whose human rights are often not adequately respected or implemented, including their right to land, access to information and participation in decision making processes.  These communities often do not have the necessary prerequisites to amplify their voices and have a more prominent role in policy influencing. The landscapes selected also provide a useful context for addressing gender equality because IPLC women are often excluded for decision making processes.  The lack of economic opportunities for IPLCs in these places particular pressure on women who are often left in the community with children when men migrate to the city in search of employment.  The project aims to implement measures to address these inequality and challenges.  \n\nFrom a regional and environmental management perspective, the focus on these transboundary landscapes will add value because it makes it possible to implement similar approaches and actions in each country and address connectivity needs between protected areas and across borders. Combining a landscape approach and regional coordination will lead to more effective conservation of biodiversity and benefits for people, which cannot be achieved through purely national interventions.  It will be possible to scale up impacts through shared learning, building alliances across borders for policy influencing and work with organizations that transcend national borders\n\nThree main strategies will orient the course of this project:  a) income-generating activities that promote sustainable livelihoods for men, women and their families, b) building capacities and alliances of rightsholders’ organizations, and c) advocacy for equitable climate and nature solutions. Bristen på försörjningsmöjligheter för IPLC skapar ett stort tryck, framför allt på kvinnor, som ofta lämnas i samhällena med barnen medan männen migrerar till städerna för att söka arbetstillfällen. Insatsen strävar efter att genomföra åtgärder för att minska dessa ojämlikheter och utmaningar.\n\nFrån regionalt och miljöförvaltningsperspektiv kommer fokuset på gränsöverskridande  landskap att ge ett mervärde eftersom detta möjliggör att genomföra liknande ansatser och åtgärder i varje land och att knyta samman skyddade områden över gränserna. Genom att kombinera en landskaps-ansats med regional samordning kommer detta att leda till ett mer effektivt skydd av biologisk mångfald till nytta för människor, som inte kan uppnås genom enbart nationella åtgärder. More than 63 community organizations strengthened their organizational and financial capacities, and 20 strategic alliances were consolidated, enabling communities to influence public policies and regional plans. Women and youth now hold leadership roles in decision-making spaces, and communities have adopted sustainable practices such as agroforestry, community tourism, and biodiversity monitoring.\n\nIndigenous peoples and local communities have gained organizational autonomy, stronger recognition of collective rights, and improved capacity to manage their territories. Women and youth have become visible leaders in governance and advocacy processes, contributing to gender equity and generational renewal. Communities now have diversified livelihoods, reducing dependence on extractive activities and improving economic resilience.\n\nTarget groups can now design and implement territorial governance plans and community protocols, manage sustainable productive activities and monitor biodiversity using technical tools, advocate effectively in policy spaces, influencing regulations and development plans, establish and maintain strategic alliances with governments, NGOs, and international actors and access markets and autonomously manage resources, ensuring sustainability beyond external funding.\n\nSome of the main results include:\n\nMayan Jungle: promotion of community tourism projects, artisanal embroidery, natural beauty products, handicrafts and agroforestry systems. Strengthening sustainable productive activities: production of backyard vegetables, poultry, sheep and pigs, production of chilas with agroecological practices.\n\nSouthern Amazon: strengthening of diversified community enterprises, linked to the management of wild products such as Brazil nuts, açaí, majo, royal palm, native cocoa, huicungo and other value-added cocoa and coffee production systems.\n\nIn the Northern Amazon, progress is being made in the diversification of livelihoods with productive activities linked to conservation with fine aroma cocoa and native cocoa and nature tourism. Particularly in Ecuador, sustainable productive initiatives that generate income were identified and prioritized, especially for groups of women and young people, resulting in 5 prioritized initiatives in the intervention area.\n\nTo date, a total of 26 sustainable productive initiatives have been prioritized, 12 income-generating activities with adaptive management considerations are being implemented, and 2,220 people are reported to be linked to income-generating processes in the region. Additionally, 7 partnerships have been established between Indigenous Peoples and local communities and other key stakeholders to support equitable solutions for climate and nature and 11 organizations have achieved positioning in governance schemes where decisions are made.\n\nThe contribution has increased participation and equity, reduced pressures on biodiversity through community monitoring and sustainable forest management, and amplified community voices in national and international policy debates. It has strengthened economic resilience, cultural identity, and intergenerational leadership, while creating regional platforms for learning and advocacy that will sustain impact beyond the
