In contribution to this objective, four long term and ten intermediate outcomes outlined in the following conceptual framework should be achieved : \n\n- Long-term outcome 1: Vulnerable women and men have more climate-resilient, sustainable livelihoods.\n\nTo strengthen access to and control over agricultural and non-agricultural livelihoods through the development of agricultural value chains, increase the economic stability of women especially through the promotion of income-generating activities and livelihoods, as well as increase the resilience to climate change and natural disasters, using conflict sensitive approaches and creating opportunities for communities in conflict to engage constructively with each other around shared economic interests.\n\n- Long Term Outcome 2: Girls and women have increased voice and influence in decision-making spaces for the promotion of their rights.\n\nTo inform the inventions under Long Term Outcome 2, a gender-power analysis will be carried out in the inception phase of the project. The analysis will not only focus on the power dynamics in relation to women's voice, leadership and participation, but will also expose the gender-power dynamics in relation to women's and men's access to and control over the means of developing sustainable livelihoods. It will also highlight the gender power dynamics limiting women's and girls' participation in inclusive and constructive dialogue and peaceful conflict resolution initiatives. In addition, during the course of the project, a study will be conducted by Trócaire on the issue of women's participation in decision-making spaces in Ituri province. The outcome of this study will guide the interventions, after the first year of implementation.\n\n- Long Term Outcome 3: Young people (boys and girls) have increased their economic power. \n\nIn light of this, as well as including youth in the targeting for activities under Longterm Outcomes 1 and 2, the project will specifically facilitate vocational training and business start-up opportunities for them. These were selected as appropriate interventions based on an analysis of existing initiatives in the area and the expressed needs of the youth surveyed during the final evaluation of the previous phase.\n\n- Long-term outcome 4: Implementing partners have improved organizational resilience.\n\nDuring this Phase II, the Partner Capacity Assessment Tool (PCAS) will be updated and partners will be supported to update and advance their capacity development plans. Annual assessments will be conducted to measure the level of achievement of partners against the capacity development plan put in place. In Phase 1, Trócaire supported partners in a variety of organizational capacity development initiatives, using the PCAS to help partners assess their institutional, programmatic\u002Ftechnical, and financial management capacities. These included (1) Héritiers du Développement du Congo (HDC) for livelihoods activities in Irumu, (2) Club des Volontaires pour l'Appui aux Peuples autochtones (CVAP) also for livelihoods in Mambasa, (3) Diocesan Commission for Justice and Peace (CDJP) for advocacy and women empowerment and National Partnership of Children and Youth in Peacebuilding (NPCYP) for youth and peace activities.\n\nTrocaire's partner NCYPs Peace underlined that the project was inclusive in involving different sub-groups such as adult women and men, youth and the local leaders in the different stages of implementation, promotes empowerment, ownership and cooperation. The same report emphasizes the do no harm dimension by bringing together people from different ethnic backgrounds and villages without discrimination, thus promoting better mutual understanding and social cohesion.\n\nHDC's and CVAP's initiative of community farms called \"peace gardens\" has not only strengthened social cohesion among participants but has also generated significant economic dividends for members through the sale of vegetable produce from these gardens. The improvement of sustainable livelihoods has been characterized by the proper application of agro-ecological principles such as the use of bio-pesticides, soil fertility techniques, agroforestry, irrigation, small livestock rearing, sustainable fisheries, and guidance by project field staff through demonstrations in farmer field schools (FFS), veterinary techniques, and other relevant agricultural mechanisms. \n\nTrócaire has interventions rolled out across 20 villages and three centers, it impacts the lives of several segments of the population and leverages local partnerships to implement integrated actions around sustainable agriculture, women's empowerment, vocational training for young people and natural resource management enhancing conflict sensitivity. \n\nThe June 2025 peacebuilding analysis report by partner NPCYP highlights the inclusiveness of the PAKAMA project, which involved all social groups in its implementation to enhance peace building. This approach has according to the mid-term evaluation strengthened empowerment, cooperation and social cohesion, while creating concrete results such as common spaces and immediate economic impacts, also preventing conflicts and ensuring strengthening of community resilience.\n\nProgress has been under all four project outcomes. Under outcome one, the community field initiative, known as \"gardens of peace\", has helped to strengthen social cohesion among participants while generating significant economic benefits through the marketing of market garden and food crops. The improvement of livelihoods for 850 beneficiaries, including 523 women and 327 men, has resulted in the application of agroecological principles such as the use of biopesticides, soil fertilisation practices, agroforestry, small animal husbandry, sustainable fishing, and technical support provided by field staff through farmer field schools, veterinary advice and other appropriate methods.\n\nThe project boosted the self-esteem and confidence of 478 adults through a literacy programme focused on reading and numeracy skills (Outcome two). It also developed the capacities of female leaders and local authorities, particularly on access to land, gender-responsive budgeting and advocacy. Finally, community structures such as the DFP and CLGP were supported to encourage inclusive governance.\nUnder Outcome 3, vocational training for young people was initially planned for a single cohort of 420 participants. Following a cost analysis conducted with the PDDRCS, 396 young people (237 girls and 159 boys) completed the training. While the full target was selected at the outset, 24 participants dropped out due to illness, relocation, or a shift to other income-generating activities such as mining. Nine vocational courses were delivered, including sewing, hairdressing and beauty therapy, soap making, decoration, general mechanics, baking, carpentry, IT, and small-scale livestock farming. As a result, 42 youth-led micro-enterprises were established to support economic independence. Ongoing technical support is being provided and will continue into the projects fourth year.\n\nWith regard to the major challenge of economic competition, the main obstacle encountered by the project is competition from local economic opportunities that are perceived as more quickly profitable. This dynamic has led to the withdrawal of some participants, attracted by alternatives such as small-scale trade in the Bahema-Sud area or gold mining in a quarry discovered in 2025 in Walendu-Bindi. In order to address this challenge, local authorities and community leaders have been mobilised in awareness-raising activities.\nDuring the reporting period, 850 project participants, including 523 women and 327 men representing households in the Mambasa and Irumu territories, were equipped and assisted to practise sustainable, environmentally friendly and climate-resilient agriculture. This included raising awareness of the use of endogenous seeds, the application of good soil conservation and improvement practices, good practices for controlling crop pests (production and use of plant-based biopesticides and local inputs) and good practices for post-harvest crop conservation and protection. The project also chose to distribute small farmyard livestock as part of food diversification and income generation to care for their households and improve their economic situation. The activities of the mutual solidarity groups are progressing well, with members accessing credit and developing individual and collective income-generating activities. The main income generating activities developed by members are agriculture, small fish trading, sale of household items, cutting and sewing, sand trading, etc.\n",{"title":294,"description":296,"measure":298,"ascending":206},{"narrative":295},"Not applicable",{"narrative":297},"No indicator available - only a description of the activity results is
