The learning from this intervention is expected to be mainstreamed to other RECs that are supported by Sweden. This helped for building organizational buy-in of gender equality works.\n\n-Customized Gender Mainstreaming Guidelines is developed and in place for use across IGAD programs. The finalized guidelines were formally presented to the IGAD Executive Secretary, signaling strong high-level institutional endorsement.\n\nThe awareness and capacity support resulted in,\n\n-Gender-responsive human resources management (better flexiablity for women during pregnancy and nursing),\n\n-Gender sensitive procurement, and budgeting practices,\n\n-Development of gender leadership curriculum for the IGAD Leadership Academy,\n\n-Improved womens leadership efforts were successfully implemented: Provision of mentoring program benefiting 11 women staff, and a leadership retreat that equipped female leaders with practical tools using the R.I.S.E. Framework.\n\nOverall there are :\n\n-Increased recruitment of women.\n\n-Increase in gender funding in new projects\n\n-Improved gender balance in high-level engagements though it was very
