A key milestone was the establishment of a dedicated CBRN Working Group within SESU. The working group, composed of 17 representatives (15 males, 2 female) from firefighting units, specialised CBRN teams, universities, and SESU headquarters, including SESU Gender Equality Sector, and from different geographic locations in Ukraine.\n\nTraining Sessions for instructors were developed to conduct exercises to SESUs Commanding Staff of First Responders, the Training of Trainers course was implemented as a pilot activity to support the development of a comprehensive training system for commanding officers of first responder units. A total of 24 SESU personnel (23 male, 1 female) successfully completed the training and will serve as instructors for shift commanders. \n\nBasic CBRN equipment improved capacity for first responders and CBRN Units in three selected Oblasts. The first phase of the project focused on defining SESUs equipment needs and aligning them with the project objectives to ensure the highest possible impact. This phase resulted in the procurement and delivery of 150 sets of life-saving tools and protective equipment to fire stations in three pilot oblasts.\n\nStrengthening SESUs integration into the EU's Union Civil Protection Mechanism (UCPM): A training\u002Fcourse developed and conducted to enhance SESU personnel capacities for international deployments of response capacities, the project supported SESU with the development of a Staff Methodology Course and conducted the training from 9-12 December 2025. A total of 25 SESU personnel (23 Males, 2 females) participated in the training. \n\nThe impact of the Staff Methodology Course was assessed through pre and post training questionnaires completed by the participants. Across all assessed topics, the average self-reported knowledge level increased by 0.97 points on a five point scale, corresponding to an approximate 35% increase.\n\nComponent 2 objective: \n\nThe single most important achievement for Component 2 on Mine Action during the reporting period was the renovation of the National Police of Ukraine (NPU) training facility, carried out to establish appropriate and modern training conditions, and the establishment of a Base Camp for State Special Transport Service (SSTS) training. Furthermore, NPU have increased the number of national operators with national approval to participate in operational EOD clearance.\n\nImproved NPU capacity to perform advanced EOD\u002FIED training and clearance operations, a fully operational training facility has been established in Ivano-Frankivsk oblast, providing a solid foundation for expanded training activities. The facility significantly strengthens the organisations operational readiness by enabling regular, structured training aligned with operational needs, while also enhancing personnel safety through controlled training conditions and standardized procedures.\n\nThe project has strengthened SSTSs ability to provide training and operational management of its mine action and EOD units through the provision of equipment and support structures. \n\nImproved SSTS capacity to plan and conduct training of demining operators, activities have focused on strengthening SSTSs personnel capacity. A series of exercises, training sessions, and targeted support activities have been implemented to enhance personnel skills and operational readiness. During 2025, approximately 140 (139 Male, 1 Female) individuals have been trained by 3 SSTS\u002Fexternal instructors at the temporary mobile Base Camp in Cherkasy Oblast facility, with each training cohort requiring around 78 weeks to complete. \n\nDuring 2025, six training courses in advanced EOD\u002FIED disposal techniques for NPU were conducted at the facility and delivered by MSBs\u002FUNOPS seconded experts. The trainings were supported by a dynamic training methodology developed from lessons learned in operational environments. Both equipment and course curricula have been continuously adapted to reflect the current threat landscape, ensuring that the training remains relevant and effective.\n\nContributing to the maintenance of mechanical clearance machines and vehicle fleet and Output SSTS and NPU have improved ability to maintain the organisations mechanical clearance machines and vehicle fleet. NPU has received 4 mobile workshops for simple field repair of vehicles and mine clearance machines and a set for permanent installation in Ivano-Frankivsk contributing to improved field maintenance
