In FY25, Womens Learning Partnership (WLP) and its partners across the Global South advanced women´s rights and gender justice in a global context marked by shrinking civic space, decreased funding, rising authoritarianism, and climate and humanitarian crises. Despite these challenges, the Partnership strengthened feminist leadership, achieved legal reform outcomes, and bolstered the resilience of civil society organizations (CSOs).\n\nReach and Leadership Development\nExamples of results:\n\nThrough 12 Training of Trainers (TOT) programs and 58 grassroots workshops, WLP trained 1,632 people, including 732 youth, across 15 countries. Leveraging WLPs multiplier effect methodology, trainees from these programs have conducted stepdown workshops in their communities, reaching an additional 670 women, men, and youth. 95 percent of workshop participants reported an increased awareness of womens rights, while 90 percent saw themselves as leaders and agents of change. As a direct result of WLP trainings, 247 women and youth assumed new leadership roles, and youth-led initiatives, from digital campaigns in Kyrgyzstan to mental health advocacy in Indonesia, demonstrated the next generations active engagement in democratic and social change. In FY25, 78 WLP trained political candidates ran for office in Brazil, Kyrgyzstan, Indonesia, and Pakistan, and 35 were elected to leadership positions. Additionally, the Partnership trained 399 women and men as election monitors and helped 415 women register to vote. (WLP annual report p.14)  In May 2025, WLP held its first ever global Alumni Event to launch the WLP´s Alumni network. The intergenerational virtual event brought together leaders, activists, educators, and changemakers from 20 countries around the world who had previously participated in WLPs Global TOT program. More than 100 participants gathered to share stories of how working with the Partnership has\nimpacted their work, shaped their perspectives, and influenced their personal journeys.\n\nImpact of Legal Reforms and Advocacy\nExamples of results:\n\nThe Partnership recorded 159 advocacy outcomes and secured three landmark\nlegal reforms in FY25. These include:\n - In Pakistan, the Sindh High Court affirmed divorced daughters right to inherit\npensions, and parliament passed the Islamabad Child Marriage Restraint Act\nraising the marriage age to 18.\n- In Brazil, WLP partner helped secure approval of Resolution 258\u002F2024, strengthening\nprotections for child and adolescent survivors of sexual violence.\n -In Mauritania, WLP partner  trained 75 parliamentarians, catalyzing the\ncreation of a women led parliamentary commission to advance a new personal\nstatus code. \n\nBeyond the passage of these new laws, partners influenced policymaking processes in Egypt, Morocco, Malaysia, and Kyrgyzstan, producing draft legislations, mobilizing coalitions, and ensuring that womens voices shaped family law reform, labor protections, and gender responsive governance. At UN CSW, WLP collaborated with Global Campaign for Equality in Family Law (GCEFL) coalition to cohost a CSW side event with the governments of Sweden and Zambia: WLP cohosted The Rise of Family Values: Strategies for Rights Based Family Law Reform to tackle the increasing use of family values rhetoric to justify discrimination, particularly in personal status laws governing marriage, divorce, child custody, and inheritance. WLPs Regional MENA Director spoke about Morocco´s successes and struggles with the reform of the inheritance laws\n\nExamples of results:\nWLP reported 90 outcomes that directly strengthened CSO capacity, including mentoring emerging organizations, developing cross sectoral partnerships, and fostering resilience in contexts of shrinking civic space.
