This results in human rights defenders, land defenders, and journalists reporting on these issues facing great risk, harassment, surveillance, public slander, attacks, and organisational closure. Organisations (and individuals) operating in isolation in the most closed societies are at greatest risk of unchecked harassment and closure.\n\nTo contribute to this goal, IFEX will deliver on two objectives:\n\n1.Support civil society to participate in civic space and\n2. Promote and protect open civic space.\n\n\n\nGoal 2: Access to Information - Strengthened freedom and integrity of information:\nFacing increasing authoritarian actors and states throttling independent sources and restricting channels in order to shape and monopolise the dominant narratives, marginalised individuals within communities are often the most impacted, experiencing restricted access to the internet, education, and information that reflects their own identities.\n\nAware of the power that the free flow of accurate information brings to communities,IFEX proposes to address to the following:\n\n1. Protect and promote equitable and timely access to information and\n2. Protect and promote accuracy of information.\n\nVarious levels of activities IFEX proposes in this area include pursuing advanced technology (e.g. Ethical use of Artificial Intelligence), undertaking judicial advocacy for both accuracy of and access to information, action for holding governments accountable for information integrity and accessiblity, strengthening capacity and knowledge in digital literacy and journalistic integrity, as well as countering mis\u002Fdisinformation through promotion of factchecking platforms and processes.\n\n\nGoal 3: Safety and Justice - A safer and more just environment for those exercising their right to FoE&I\nThis is an area where IFEX has long engaged in, i order to promote a strengthen a normative environment and accessible protection practices for journalists, rights defenders, and those most at risk of violations for exercising their right to FoE&I due to their intersecting identities.\n\nIFEX has articulated the following pursuit of sub-goals:\n\n1. Promote and embed a holistic safety culture and\n2. Advance equitable implementation of robust justice standards and practices\n\nTo this end, IFEX has launched a robust programme for journalist safety in collaboration with other international partners that delivers a more cooperative and holistic approach to achieve greater impact for journalists at risk, and more reliable information sources for communities.
