Five research studies were completed, offering practical insights into media literacy, youth participation, and journalism practice within the legal environment for press freedom. These findings directly informed tools such as a legal guide for journalists, youth civic engagement resources, and policy submissions. Media literacy data is now shaping the projects communication strategy, while studies on journalism unions and misinformation showed gaps that future interventions will address. The period also saw the successful onboarding of the MISA board, the registration and operationalisation of the Media Self-Regulation Council of Zambia, and the rollout of youth-led accountability boards and a pilot community tracking tool.\n\nObjective 2: Maintain critical media platforms and wider infrastructure for youth to hold leaders accountable and maintain essential mechanisms for the protection of press and freedom of expression\n\nObjective 2 was largely achieved, with clear and measurable progress across multiple areas. The Media Legal Defence Fund directly supported 12 journalists and media houses facing legal threats, including a landmark case that restored a journalists employment after unlawful dismissal. Media monitoring intensified, resulting in a media violations report and plans for a digital dashboard. Policy advocacy led to a presidential statement in support of media self-regulation, while civil society coordination produced concrete legal recommendations shared with Parliament. At the community level, over 900 young people were engaged in civic awareness activities, and municipal councils committed to new transparency measures following youth-led advocacy. In the media space, 144 radio programmes were produced exceeding targets with improved formats and new digital outreach tools and approaches introduced to reach younger audiences more
