With programme support, several key pieces of legislation have been adopted, including laws on the Judicial Secretariat, Supreme Court appointments, legal aid, and commercial courts. These reforms represent important steps toward strengthening judicial governance and reducing executive influence over the justice system.\n\nSupporting the Supreme Courts Reform Agenda: In response to the 2024 public demand for justice, accountability, and protection from arbitrary use of power, the programme has supported the Supreme Courts justice reform agenda and facilitated broad stakeholder engagement.\n\nNine judicial reform discussions were organised across Chattogram, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Rangpur, Sylhet, Khulna, Barisal, and Dhaka, bringing together judges, advocates, and other justice sector actors to debate the need for judicial independence directly with the Chief Justice.The outcomes of these discussions were presented at the National Justice Conference to the head of government and directly informed revisions to the Supreme Court Strategic Plan. Despite political transition and the repeal of some reform measures, these dialogues helped sustain momentum for justice sector reform and demonstrated continued demand for judicial independence among key stakeholders. Approximately 1,000 justice sector officials and stakeholders participated in total.\n\nSupporting National Reform Commissions: The programme has provided targeted assistance to both the Judicial Reform Commission and the Police Reform Commission. This support included eight stakeholder consultations on police and justice reform, logistical and coordination assistance, and expert advisory papers on judicial independence, prosecution reform, model police stations, and peoplecentred policing. Findings from the Commissions reports subsequently shaped policy recommendations of the Interim Government and political parties through the work of the Consensus Commission, demonstrating the programmes influence on national policy dialogue.\n\nAdvancing Prosecution Reform: The programme has helped advance discussions on transforming the Attorney Generals Office into a professional prosecution service. Engagement with young people and future legal professionals has contributed to building awareness and support for a modernised, independent prosecution system.\n\nBuilding Future Reform Capacity: A Young Professionals\u002FInternship Programme was established to strengthen legal research and policy capacity among emerging professionals. Two cohorts of 25 interns from leading universities have participated, gaining direct exposure to justice sector reform processes and contributing to policy research.\n\nInitiating Judicial Digitalisation and Commercial Court Establishment: The programme has initiated foundational work for the establishment of commercial courts and judicial digitalisation, with operationalisation planned from 2026.
