The programme will run for three years and three months, with a budget of around ten million SEK per full year. The total budget for the programme, including 15% in own funds, amounts to 37,515,589 SEK. Sida’s contribution is 32,869,853 SEK.\nMyRight is an umbrella organisation founded in 1981 to support the Swedish disability movement’s international development cooperation. What sets MyRight and its partner organisations apart is that they are established by and for persons with disabilities (Organisations of Persons with Disabilities, or OPDs). A core principle of the movement is “Nothing about us without us”—the belief that rights advocacy should be led by people with disabilities themselves.\nThe overall goal of the programme is that:\n“Partner organisations are an active part of civil society, working effectively to hold duty-bearers and development actors accountable for realising the human rights of persons with disabilities, in line with the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) and the Sustainable Development Goals.”\nThe expected results include strengthening the capacity of partner organisations (POs) in three main areas:\n1.Empowering individuals: POs have improved capacity and tools to empower persons with disabilities to handle challenges, increase their self-determination and make their voices heard, while also raising awareness among their families and local communities about the rights of persons with disabilities.\n2.Strengthening organisational capacity: POs have improved their organisational structures, management systems, environmental engagement, skills, and resource mobilisation to become more financially independent, democratic, transparent, accountable, gender- and environmentally aware, effective, and relevant.\n3.Strengthening advocacy and policy dialogue: POs have developed and used their advocacy and networking skills, enabling them to hold decision-makers accountable for their commitments to the rights of persons with disabilities.\nMyRight will enter into agreements with 21 partner organisations in eight countries (Bolivia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ethiopia, Nepal, Nicaragua, Rwanda, Sri Lanka, and Tanzania).
