Many activities within this target area are directly relevant to food security and livelihood opportunities. There is a strong focus on increasing the role and voice of civil society in international forums where biodiversity is addressed.\n\nTarget area 3 - Healthy aquatic ecosystems\n\nObjective 3 - Sustainable utilisation of oceans and functional marine protected areas\n\nWithin the target the work aims to strengthen coastal communities' rights and access to fishery resources and to ensure that small-scale fishing is not undermined by unsustainable industrial fishing. The target area also aims to engage in the emerging Blue Economy with the aim of protecting the rights of vulnerable people. \n\nTarget area 4 - A toxics-free environment and human health\n\nObjective 4 - Regulation of substances hazardous to the environment and people’s health\n\nWithin the target area the work aims to phase out chemicals that are harmful to the environment and health, and to strengthen the regulation of chemicals at local, national, and international levels. This is done, among other things, by strengthening the role of civil society in international convention work relating to chemicals and in national information and regulatory work.\n\nTarget area 5 - Environmentally conscious people in sustainable\ncommunities \n\nObjective 5.1 - A fair and just global economy that delivers well-being within planetary boundaries.\n\nObjective 5.2 - Strengthen the legal protection for people and environment\n\nWithin the target area the work aims to increase knowledge and awareness of fair and equitable sustainable development.
