The intervention focuses on improving the functionality of basic services and addressing the factors that limit households’ ability to recover and sustain their wellbeing.\n\nA core component of the contribution is the rehabilitation and improved functioning of community-level water and irrigation systems, where damage and under-maintenance have reduced access to reliable water for domestic and productive use. The project works with local structures to enhance operational practices, improve maintenance routines and strengthen the link between service actors and communities. These efforts aim to increase service reliability and reduce the vulnerability of households whose daily needs depend on predictable access to water.\n\nThe contribution also supports initiatives at community level designed to foster cooperation, strengthen social cohesion and improve local mechanisms that enable residents to participate in decisions affecting service delivery and shared resources. These activities help reinforce community structures and create safer, more predictable environments for households and local service actors.\n\nLivelihood support within the contribution focuses primarily on agriculture, which remains a key source of income for many households in the district. The intervention seeks to improve farmers’ access to irrigation services, agricultural inputs and relevant technical knowledge, enabling them to enhance productivity and engage more effectively in local markets. By addressing constraints that limit agricultural recovery, the contribution helps stabilise production and expand livelihood opportunities for vulnerable populations.\n\nThe contribution is delivered through a combination of service rehabilitation, capacity strengthening and community-level support. Insatsen arbetar för att förbättra bönders tillgång till bevattningstjänster, insatsvaror och relevant teknisk kunskap, vilket bidrar till ökad produktivitet och bättre möjligheter att delta i lokala marknader.
