An additional positive side-effect is improvements in the competitiveness of the Bangladeshi factories in several international markets.\n\nBy the end of the intervention, Bangladeshs Ready-Made Garment (RMG) sector is expected to have undergone a systemic transformation towards data-driven, transparent, and accountable sustainability governance. The project will, according to Swisscontact, develop a commercially viable digital platform for environmental, social and governance (ESG) improvements. It shall decarbonize production through improved data quality, automated reporting, and knowledge sharing, and enhance companies resilience and competitiveness.\n\nThrough this initiative, a scalable, and inclusive digital sustainability platform will be established to consolidate ESG data across the sector, provide e-learning opportunities, and enable matchmaking between factories, brands, technology experts, and service and technology providers. Although the initial focus is on the RMG sector, the Platform is expected to be useful to many other sectors as well, already from the outset. If successful, the aim is to complement the Platform with additional material to also serve other sectors. \n\nThe digital ESG Platform aims to empower the entire RMG sector to enhance its ESG compliance. However, the project has a particular focus on otherwise underserved tier 2 and 3 factories, through i.a. free access to e-learning, a knowledge hub, and a reporting tool. It will also help factories, sustainability professionals and technology providers find each other through matchmaking.\n\nThe project will have two phases. By year two it is expected to have contributed to the following: ESG reporting will be digitalized, efficient, and standardized, producing automated reports aligned with several international stadards such as GRI, ESRS, and IFRS. Information asymmetry between factories, buyers, and service providers will be significantly reduced. At least 50 factories, 10 brands, and 15 service providers will be onboarded and actively using the platform during beta testing (years 12). 300 management staff and sustainability officers will have completed e-learning modules and strengthened their ESG competence. 20 matchmaking services will have connected factories, brands, and experts for advisory and auditing support. Early revenue of at least BDT 700,000 (SEK 55,000) will be generated through brand contributions supporting platform adoption.\n\nIn the medium term (years 35) the platform is expected to have contributed to the following results: It will have at least 500 active users (400 factories, 50 brands, and 50 service providers). A sustainable business model and ownership structure will be in place, with a designated platform steward. Data-driven decision-making and improved ESG reporting practices will be integrated into business operations of the factories. The platform will generate approximately BDT 12 million (SEK 900,000) in annual revenue. The broader ESG ecosystem will use the platforms insights for policy development, innovation, and co-creation of sustainability solutions.\n\nIn the long term (beyond Year 5), the project is expected to contribute to the following results: Improved working conditions, health, safety and other labor rights for 23,000 workers (60% women).
