At the same time, disruptions to energy and logistics systems heighten the risk of cold chain failures, making this contribution very relevant.\n\nThis supported allowed WHO Ukraine to protect two life lines that the war keeps compromising:  1) the safety of blood transfusion, and 2) the protection of vaccine supply chain. In parallel, WHO Ukraine strengthened the human capacity of Ukraine's public health system, especially laboratory staff and public health leaders, so they can detect threats earlier, work safer, and sustain quality under pressure. \n\nWHO converted Sida's investment into three (3) main practical results: \n1) WHO delivered targeted blood safety supplies  to prevent interruptions in screening and to reduce the risk of transfusion- transmissible infections (TTIs)\n\n2) WHO helped Ukraine's immunization programme prevent \"invisible losses\" of vaccine potency by moving from review to practical field - oriented standard operating procedures (SOPs) and by addressing urgent infrastructure risks at the national vaccine warehouse. \n\n3) WHO strengthened quality and bio-safety practices in laboratories through hands-on trainings, on-line learning, mentorship and accreditation-readiness assessments that translate into more reliable results and safer working conditions. \n\nThese results contributed directly to the project goal: strengthening communicable disease surveillance and testing capacity and, through that , public health security in Ukraine.\n\nMore specific results \n\n- 23 blood centres received blood containers to sustain blood collection and processing. \n\n- 1 blood establishment received HIV syphilis and anti HCV testing supplies and two months contingency stock. \n\n- 1 ELISA equipment set was procured for the National Service Reference Laboratory in Vinnytsia oblast\n\n- 1 national standard operation procedure (SOP) on Temperature Recording and management of Temperature Excursion developed.\n\n- Major vaccine potency loss prevented by addressing cold chain risk at the national vaccine warehouse, protecting over 5 million doses from freezing.  \n\n- 3 blood establishment assessments and capacity building activities, including two webinars reaching over 300 participants (information on disaggregation of male and females exist in annex- should be
