The agreement period terminated on the 30th of June 2024 with the activity period ending on the 31st of December 2023.\n1. Capacity building: the main objective of the Program is to provide sustainable energy for poverty reduction. Below are the results from the various activities:\n- total Energy sold per year of 2700 GWh (Giga Watt Hours) by 2012 but this number reached 3900GWH in 2012\n- Through the improvement of business and internal work processes it was expected that by 2012 the ratio of MWH\u002Fstaff (Megawatt hours sold\u002Fstaff da EDM) would be 677 but this has since risen to 2327 by 2021.\n- As a result of the development of human resources, building and maintenance of capabilities and improved performance, the ratio of EDM customers to staff employed by the company was expected to be 230 by 2012 but this rose to 328 by 2012 and 883 by 2024.\n1. SAIDI = System Average Interruption Duration Index, was 28h in 2012 but is now 0.26h currently\n2. SAIFI = System Average Interruption Frequency Index, was 30h in 2012 and now has gone down to 0.77h \n3. No. of days to treat complaints, this has also been reduced to a time of three hours currently.\n4. No. of days for new connection, there is no record for 2012 but it is noted that the time for a new connection has been drastically reduced to three days from the time of request\nWith respect to the reduction in losses:\n- It was planned to have a maximum total of 28% of losses (distribution and non-technical losses) and 26% was achieved in 2012 which also included transmission and 24% in 2024.\n- Furthermore, a specific directorate for revenue protection (DPRP) was created, to facilitate and monitor all issues related to non-technical losses.\nSummary of results for the strategic studies component:\nSeveral studies were carried out during the implementation of this component and the reports approved both by EDM and the Embassy of Sweden.\n1. The feasibility study of the Tsate hydropower plant was completed but since the process has taken a long time the cost of implementation has significantly gone up and EDM has yet to look for funding for the project. Sweden by a government decision of 4 December 2025 will support the Mozambican government through a bilateral cooperation agreement only until August 31st of 2026 hence cannot fund the project. Furthermore, the other donors (EU and KfW) have decided not to go ahead with the project due to the increased costs. \n2. Feasibility study of the rehabilitation of the Corumana power plant was also successfully completed but up to now EDM has not secured financing for the project.\n3. The Environmental and social impact assessment of the Nampula Angoche transmission line project was also successfully completed. The European Investment Bank has committed to provide a loan and the EU together with KfW the German bank will provide grant funding for the implementation of the project. This project will be implemented as a package together with Massinga Vilanculos transmission line of which feasibility and Environmental studies were also funded by Sweden. \n4. Feasibility of the electrification of Mozambican administrative posts was also completed, and the results are being adapted in the ongoing electrification projects.\nThe launch of the e-learning platform by EDM which was financed by Sida has also brought savings of up to $450 000 annually since EDM does not have to move its employees from other areas of the country to Maputo training center for the various training courses which have already been incorporated on the platform especially the one on safety issues at the workplace.
