Resultat
The following are some results reported under each outcome area: Outcome 1: Provide interim life-saving assistance to migrants in vulnerable situations and host communities - Food and water were delivered through the mobile patrol outreach to 5,513 (3693 men, 1137 women, 530 boys and 153 girls) transiting migrants in Djibouti, more than half of these migrants also received primary health assistance. -4 medical containers were installed in key migration transit points in Djibouti to support local health centres to deliver health services to migrants- addressing the growing needs. - In Ethiopia, 173 migrants (15 women, 158 men) were provided with onward transportation assistance (OTA) to return to their communities of origin. -349 (89 women, 260 male) migrants in Ethiopia were provided with post arrival assistance (includes food, accommodation, counselling). -11 migrants (2 female, 9 male) in Ethiopia provided with medical and psychiatric treatments either by IOM or through secondary referrals to hospitals and clinics Outcome 2: Provide quality, timely, and inclusive protection assistance and services to migrants and host communities -In Djibouti, Protection services in the form of MHPSS interventions, protection assessments, assistance package to survivors of GBV, and other forms of violence, abuse, and exploitation were extended to 1,286 migrants (967 men, 149 women, 121 boys and 49 girls) - Efforts to enhance the quality of protection response have led to the establishment of a task force in Djibouti and the development of an action plan to ensure the needs and rights of migrants are effectively addressed. -78 (63 boys and 15 girls) UMCs in Djibouti assisted with tailored protection services which include tracing and initiating communication with their families. -176 UMCs (74 female, 102 male) arriving in Addis Ababa were assisted with Family Tracing (FTR) assistance and family reunification services. This is done in close coordination with the Ministry of Women and Social Affairs. Outcome 3: Strenghten access to voluntary return, sustainable reintegration, regularization of stay, and community stabilization - 385 migrants (269 men, 76 women, 31 boys, and 9 girls) vulnerable migrants were provided with Assisted Voluntary Return(AVR) services - 4 vulnerable migrant returnees from Yemen in Ethiopia were provided with individual economic reintegration assistance (Reintegration sustainability surveys to assess if reintegration assistance has been successful in supporting returnees to reacheconomic self-sufficiency, social stability will be conducted) - IOM drafted a roadmap for the registration of domestic workers in Djibouti city, in efforts to regularize their status, validation by relevant stakeholders is pending. - In Djibouti, Community based project and activities that address waste management challenges, an issue that has created tensions between host communities and migrants, has been supported to promote social cohesion and climate resilience, and environmental protection. This includes support to the local authorities that now run a plastic recycling factory in Obock. - Two community based project that will be supported in Ethiopia are now identified, and agreement to be signed with an implementing partner Under Outcome 4: Building evidence, partnerships, coordination to enhance the humanitarian response and migration management throughout the migration route -At the national level, Migration Response Plan (MRP) Coordination meeting was held in Ethiopia to discuss response priorities for Ethiopia with MRP partners. This also led to the development of the MRP 2024 Ethiopia Terms of Reference. - Efforts on the Humanitarian Development Peace Nexus analysis are ongoing, a consultant recrui ted to support this process. Beyond the results and activities under each outcome area, the report also highlights efforts and progresses incorporating crossing cutting issues, such as environment and climate change, gender, data and evidence.
IOM, through a humanitarian and development focused support, has the following four strategic objectives which are aligned to the overall goals of the Regional Migrant Response Plan (MRP) for the Horn of Africa and Yemen: 1. Provide life-saving assistance to migrants in vulnerable situations and host communities along the Eastern Route. 2. Provide quality, timely, comprehensive, and inclusive protection services to migrants in vulnerable situations and host communities. 3. Strengthen access to return, sustainable reintegration, and community stabilization. 4. Building evidence, partnerships, and coordination to enhance the humanitarian response and migration management throughout the migration route.
