Result
During 2023 the ICT sub-program made significant progress. The procurement of ICT equipment was successfully completed which enalbed RUPP to fully equip the Data Centre, to upgrade and expand Local Area Networks (LANs) and subsequently a functionen wi-fi system, to install optical fibre links, and to connect Campus 1 to Campus 2. Furthermore IT staff at RUPP travelled to Stockholm University for technical training in Core Networking, Data Center, Software Application, and Support. The ICT Policy was updated and approved by RUPP management. In December 2023 the first PhD student, Ms Eliyan Cheya, successfully defended her thesis in Environmental Science at SLU in Uppsala and in June 2024 Mr Sokha Keam did the same with his thesis in Biology at Uppsala University. In early 2024 the Graduate Science lab could finally be upgraded, the procurment having been delayed due to the budget cuts in 2023. When Sida visited in March 2024 the heavy equipment for Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Environemental Science and Biotechnology hade been installed. In the Master programs five courses were implemented for Physics, thirteen courses for Biology, and five courses for Chemistry. Thirteen master students defended their theses All master research work was conducted smoothly.
The objective of the intervention is to enhance the Royal University of Phnom Penh (RUPP) to conduct the strategy to develop and sustain quality research and innovation that will contribute to the development needs of Cambodia and beyond.
