IPS aims to contribute to the transformation of Turkish media towards rights-based journalistic values and to become a reliable outlet of independent news with a rights-based, multi-voice approach.Bianet, the news portal of IPS Foundation, has become a model for free and independent news reporting with a rights-based approach. The objectives of IPS can be summarized under three headlines: (I) The Editorial Desk works for enhancing the role of the media and becoming an example of independent news channel acting as an open space for sharing, and producing reliable and non-biased news on human rights. (II) The Freedom of Expression Work monitors and publishes news and reports on the violations, developments and the struggle on Freedom of Expression and Press Freedom. III) The Training and Capacity Building Work provides training programs and resource materials for the promotion of rights-based journalism with an aim to introduce independent and rights focused journalism.

The intervention aims to increase the quality of journalism standards in Turkey by way of disseminating principles of ethical journalism with a human rights based approach (HRBA). This is done via both Bianet's own publishing as well as its capacity building activities.
