Result
Nine Bolivian sandwich PhD students (six male and three female) from University Mayor de San Simón, UMSS, in Cochabamba are enrolled in Swedish universities and are progressing in their research. 24 PhD students (9 male, 15 female) have been enrolled in three local/national PhD programs run by UMSS with support from Swedish universities and are progressing in their research within chemical technology, energy and social sciences/humanities. In total 21 scientific manuscripts were sent or ready to be sent to scientific journals in 2023 within the areas water management, innovation, health, chemical technology, energy, and social sciences.
General objective: Contribute to develop the region, the country, and universal knowledge by creating high quality and impactful knowledge to be transferred to and used by the social/productive sector Specific strategic objectives: Research training: Implement programmes and projects in institutional, regional, and national interest areas, with results acknowledged and used by the scientific community and in the socio-productive environment, and closely linked to local postgraduate programmes in science within sector and national development plans. Research-support component: Create a favourable environment for SICTI to develop programmes to train researchers, and in research and innovation activities, with a proper and efficient management system that includes environmental management, quality assurance, and a gender/non-discrimination perspective. Specific objectives: 1. Increase the critical mass of MSc and PhD researchers by means of local postgraduate programmes in science of the sandwich modality 2. Increase R&D&I projects under many support modalities that further knowledge in general and/or respond to regional and national issues 3. Implement support modalities driving and privileging research careers at UMSS 4. Promote an institutional university-socio productive environment relation to encourage innovation at UMSS 5. Institute quality assurance criteria to run postgraduate courses in science and their corresponding research activities 6. Create a favourable environment to develop research and innovation activities with a university social responsibility approach
