Sweden through the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida) has signed a MSEK40 project with Heifer International Project Kenya targeting the livestock subsector. The four (4) years project is aimed at strengthening production and marketing systems for improved livelihoods and resilience among 38,000 poultry and beef producers (32,000 poultry and 6,000 beef and sheep producing households). The project geographical coverage spreads across nine (9) counties of: Kajiado, Isiolo, Busia, Kakamega, Nandi, Uasin Gishu, Trans-Nzoia, Nakuru, and Bungoma. Heifer Kenya has set sights on delivering three pivotal outcomes, which are. •Establishing resilient production systems for smallholder farmers, boosting their livelihoods. •Strengthening Market systems, Infrastructure, and fostering valuable business relationship between market actors; and •Empowering pastoralists, Agro-pastoralists, and Partner institutional capacities strengthened for Natural Resource Management (NRM) and conservation in all the project counties.
