The Swedish Police Authority has been assigned by the government, through the ordinance on police peace support (1999:1155) and yearly regulation letters, to recruit and make personnel available for international civilian crisis management and peace support operations under the auspices of the United Nations (UN), the European Union (EU), the Organisation for Security and Cooperation i Europe (OSCE) or similar organisations.
