As outlined in the strategic direction 2025-2030 (Annex 1 A) the main mission for the ESCAP Multi-Donor Trust Fund for Tsunami, Disaster and Climate Preparedness (hereafter the ESCAP Tsunami TF) is "Implementation of people-centered, end-to-end multi hazards and interoperable early warning systems for transboundary coastal hazards" In doing so, the ESCAP Tsunami TF will contribute towards "reducing the number of climate-related fatalities and affected populations and to reduced economic losses and damages attributed to disasters (Impact)". Intermediary outcomes are 1) to increase national capacities which will enable effective utilization of early-warning systems (EWS) to generate and communicate actionable early warnings and 2) to share and implement innovative solutions for transboundary disaster risks and climate hazards across high-disaster risk, low-capacity countries. The long-term outcomes are to empower local governments, communities, and critical sectors to take early action through enhanced disaster preparedness capacity and that the coverage of multi-hazard early warning systems (MHEWS) is extended multi-dimensionally across a range of disasters and geographies and exposed populations.
