Result
The Agreement with GEDEFOR was terminated on May 17, 2022 and was therefore discontinued. Given this situation the intended objectives of the programme can not be achieved.
The following objectives of the intervention are expected to be achieved in relation to the above-mentioned theory of change. The overall objective aims at contributing to the reinforcement of the governance, the transfer of responsibilities to local governments over fauna and forests sustainable management , the increase of revenues of disfavored rural populations (Men and Women) through the promotion of Cashew nut value chains and other forests non- ligneous products, adaptation measures to climate change, securing land resources access and capacity building for vulnerable people.Specific Objectives:• To improve the governance and the implementation of the decree transferring responsibilities over the fauna and forest resources from central state to local governments • To Reinforce the promotion of Cashew nut value chains and a Malian label on its products• To contribute to community adaptation, resilience and the increase in revenues and food security • To reinforce the capacities of rural development agents to deliver adequately their duties• To assure an adequate institutional, administrative, technical and financial management of the Programme. The following main expected results will be followed- up by Sida: • The sustainable management of natural resources fauna, forests has contributed to the widespread poverty reduction during past phases.• The created Institutional framework and the consultation organs are validated and functional• The Coordination, animation and harmonization structures for a more holistic vision for forest resources management are created and functional • Agriculture values chains are organized, generating employments and incomes for the most vulnerable and poor rural people• Increased fauna and forests governance system is applied according to the decree No: 2018-0079/P-RM of January 29, 2018 sharing responsibilities and resources between the central State and the local governments over the fauna and forests sustainable management and Law No: 2017-01 of April 11, 2017 on the new forests governance vision including climate change, gender and decentralization perspectives. The following main indicators have been taken from the log frame of the Programme document: • Sites for agriculture, livestock, and fisheries are developed and productive • The revenues of beneficiaries are increased• Increased livelihoods and food and nutritional security for the most vulnerable groups• The communication strategy of related tools is elaborated and applied • The gender equality strategy developed during the first Programme phase is implemented and reducing gender gaps.
