Overall results: The implementation of the programme contributed to much of the ground work covered by the AU and REC:s/RMs in mediation and conflict prevention strategies, through policy/institutional development; capacity building; Ad Hoc/on demand support and materials development and knowledge productions which resulted in: - Progress of the MSU's of the AU and REC:s/RMs with developing their strategy, structure, systems and processes and transcending their formative stages. - Increased capacity of the personnel in the MSUs of the AU and targeted RECs/RMs to plan, deploy, manage and support co-ordinated mediation interventions. - Comprehensive operating protocols, procedures and normative frameworks/guidelines of the MSU's of the AU and REC:s/RMs developed for mediation interventions with research, facilitation and knowledge production support. ACCORD's support contributed to some improvements in institutional capacities in the REC:s and the AU, notably in IGAD.
The objective of the intervention is strengthened and enhanced institutional capacity of the AU and RECs to plan, deploy, manage and support coordinated mediation and conflict prevention interventions.
