CID was established as a civil society organisation already in 2000. They have by now more than 16 years of experience in designing and implementing Projects aimed at the democratisation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, They have according to Norway whom have supported their efforts since 2011 as well as OSCE an excellent track record and an extensive outreach across many communities in Bosnia and Herzegovina. CID is recognised for using media platforms as a tool for democratisation, and is closely linked to its BUKA web Magazine which has been duly described by OSCE recently as one of only four non-for profit media which is a positive example of good practise and media integrity. Hence CID/BUKA is one a very few existing media organisations in the country that have been able, and indeed with a long good track record, to protect and promote public service values in journalism. A dire and much needed competency in a country such as in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Furthermore BUKA has a TV show. The BUKA web magazine is the the most visited portal dealing with political issues in BiH. On average they have some 60-80 000 visits per day and its Facebook Group Counts over 260 000 members. hence they stand out as a unique and influential initiative throughout the country. Even though they are known to be a critical platform and do touch sensitive matters they still manage to get a limited number of commercial adds, which shows their potential strength. They are at the same time a watch dog which voices critical observations such as corrupt practise of politicians etc. but they are still commercially strong and interesting. In itself a unique and somewhat uncommon combination. Given the above their is not many other established media platforms in the country which compare CID/BUKA with. They do have a comparative advantage which its outreach and popularity which can not be matched by any other similar well established organisation which do not already receive funding. In a very recent statement issues by the Council of Europe (November 2017), it is stated that Bosnia and Herzegovina authorities should spare no effort to build a truly cohesive society and effectively protect media freedom. Given the role that CID/BUKA is shouldering, and has been for a number of years, which is to improve media freedom and freedom of expression this is just further adding to the necessity to strengthen an organisation such as CID/BUKA.

Result
The progress indicators for the BUKA project are the following:-Producing, administering and publishing media content on issues of public interest on Buka web portal Target (2020) 150-200 journalistic pieces. Result: Exceeded 200 pieces -Producing and airing of 12 TV shows. Result:This activity has been partially implemented. 8 TV shows covering regional topics have been produced and published, and the remaining 4 have been included in the plan for 2021 in accordance with the approved no-cost extension. -Ongoing call for feature stories to be written by journalists/bloggers who take an activist stance in their writing. Target (2020) 50-60 new blog posts per month. Result: Successfully implemented. -Producing, administering and publishing web media content that elevates alternative voices (CSOs, civic initiatives, activist groups, grassroots movements, independent thinkers, influencers and other change-agents) in BiH. Target (2020) 50 journalistic pieces featuring above agents and their opinions/calls for action. Result: This activity has been successfully implemented. The total number exceeded the planned outcome of 50 pieces. -Videos will be created by CID, using its own human resources to conceptualize, edit and host the videos. The chosen topics/themes will be intended to be topical and pertinent to BiH news related to the issues of corruption, socio-economic issues, violation of humanrights, hate speech, gender equality, environmental and other issues. Target (2020) 10-15 videos Result: This activity has been successfully implemented. In the reporting period, the output of this activity was 20 videos. -CID will organize 2 round tables with target groups including civic and media activists, bloggers, journalists, editors, media authorities and other stakeholders. These events will be filmed and videos will be made available through Youtube, Buka web magazine and social media. Target (2020) 2 events, with approx. 10-15 participants per event, and the total of 2 videos. Result: Partially implemented. One round table has been organized and the other one has been included in the plan for 2021. Web statistics for Buka web portal in the period 1.1.2020 - 31.12.2020 show 65,649,991 pageviews and 38,619,948 sessions.Buka Facebook group counts 313,842 followers. Overall assessment: BUKA's 2020 progress is assessed to be according to project plan. The reporting is approved.
