Result
- Minimum acceptable diet which measures diet diversity in infants between 6 and 23 months improved from 9.8% at baseline to 32.5% at endline. - Application or adoption of Conservation Agriculture (CA) practices increased among farmers. For example, application of ripping increased from 40.5% at baseline to 64.8% at endline. - Post-harvest losses reduced from 25.5% at baseline to 12.5% at the endline. - A total of 1,175 savings groups were established with a total membership of 29,375 (67% being women) and a total of USD 1,308,552 being cumulatively saved across the savings groups. - Households access to loans improved from 95.7% at baseline to 98.4% at endline. - 6 percent of the beneficiary smallholder farmers sold their crop through established aggregation systems. A total of 156,635 MT of crop with an estimated value of 352,000 USD was sold via the aggregation systems. - Consequently, 68.7 percent (against a target of 70 percent) of households reported increased income because of enhanced access to markets.
The project goal is to improve Food and Nutrition Security of Women and Children in Central, Southern and Eastern Provinces through fostering production, marketing and consumption of diversified nutritious foods The main objectives and results are as follows; Objective 1: Bridge knowledge gaps on nutrition and infant feeding practices amongst targeted communities and schools. Expected Result: Communities and school learners in targeted areas have improved diet diversity and Infant and Young Child Feeding Practices. Objective 2:Promote access and consumption of nutritious foods at household level through production and markets. Expected Result: Smallholder farmers in target areas have increased production, access and consumption of nutritious foods. Objective 3: Generate lessons and best practices through implementation with partners that will operationalize nutrition-sensitive policies and programmes. Expected Result: Lessons and best practices generated influence policy and nutrition-sensitive programming.
