Urgent Action Fund for Women's Human Rights Asia Pacific

The program ‘Regionalising Urgent Action Fund for Women and Non-Binary Human Rights Defenders in Asia and the Pacific’, by Urgent Action Funds for Women’s Human Rights in Asia Pacific (UAF AP) aims to provide protection and support to women, nonbinary (e.g., lesbian, trans) human rights defenders or organisations that face urgent risk in their advocacy to uphold women’s human rights and human rights in Asia and Pacific. It is proposing the support from Sweden 1 500 000 SEK, during 1 January-31 December 2019. UAF AP is the newest member of the international network of UAF sister funds, apart from UAF in USA; UAF in Latin America and UAF Africa. UAF AP was launched in 2017 with offices in Philippines and Australia. The support is not only contributing towards resourcing resilience for women’s human rights but also strengthening the capacity of UAF AP as a regional civil society actor to promote human rights and gender equality in Asia and the Pacific. The institutional capacity building is deemed as the Sweden’s added value in which other donor foundations cannot support especially on improving the financial management of the organization.
