Result
The core activities funded by Sida include curriculum and resource development, training, civil society strengthening, advocacy, and movement building. WLP and their 20 partner organisations are mobilizing communities, organizations, activists, policymakers, and other stakeholders at local, national, regional, and international levels on a range of human rights initiatives. WLPs programs and learning materials are helping to increase women's potential to participate as active citizens to demand their rights and implement change, including through increased use of social media. The achievements of results are assessed the be satisfactory. WLP has during the partnership with Sida been able to expand partners internationally, strengthen democratic development and political participation and achieved results through partners' advocacy and activism. WLP Partnership has strengthened partners capacity to undertake advocacy at local, regional, and global levels and WLP trainings and curriculum have had a positive impact on changing traditional family norms, combating VAW/GBV, in addition to strengthening partnerships and network, benefits of the WLP Partnership including increased organizational capacities, strengthened capacities for advocacy and movement building, increased knowledge sharing and connections, and greater program mobilization. This has been achieved in a political climate where anti-rights movement has gained in strength and and political risks have increased such as restrictive legislation, censorship, surveillance, hacking, retribution attacks as well as physical risks i.e violent conflict, natural hazards and financial risks i.e. currency fluctuations, inflation, energy prices and reduced funding for women´s rights. Regarding WLP´s capacity building and traing modules, from the report: "Assessment of Sidas Partner Organisation Womens Learning Partnership (WLP) Including Recommendations Moving Forward". The WLPs Secretariat says the training's numerical impact is safely in the thousands. One respondent in the helpdesk assessment said their country alone (Brazil) has reached at least 250 organizations with its training and methodology. Respondents across regions report that many organizations outside the immediate partnership have adopted WLPs manuals and models, significantly impacting the organizational and community levels outreach, although exact numbers were hard to get. However, the WLP Secretariat shared the document Impact Graphic 2023 with the consultant, which presented the following numbers: 1616 CSOs reached through WLP mentoring and training, 1500 people trained by WLP partners, four countries where WLP partners celebrated law reforms. 100% of GTOT participants stated they had expanded their understanding of a culture of democracy. One hundred fifteen thousand signatories to an appeal for international solidarity with the people of Iran, co-organized by WLP. One specific example is a WLP training in Mauritania, where all 75 women candidates who participated in political leadership workshops hosted by WLP Mauritania/AFCF this year won their office during the May 2023 election cycle. Respondents across regions and cultures reported successful outcomes, positive changes, and tangible results from implementing the WLP model. Success stories include initiatives related to women's empowerment, information and skills development, legal support, conflict resolution, interreligious and intercultural dialogues, advocacy campaigns, tangible legislative changes, and women´s increased participation in politics.
WLPs mission is to transform power relations and promote justice, equality, peace, and sustainable development by strengthening the feminist movement. WLP's vision is "Democratic and peaceful societies that embrace pluralism and tolerance and are governed by gender-equitable norms, legislation, and policies that translate into equal rights and equal levels of participation and decision-making for women and men in the family, community, and politics." The interventions overall objective is to empower women to become active citizens and participatory leaders in achieving legal equality, economic justice, security and political participation through capacity building, awareness raising, advocacy and policy work.
