No reports have been handed in but a request for a brief update on the progress of the project has been sent over email but not yet received. Hence, the only update on the results of the project so far is from the meeting between the Embassy and SPPS shortly after the research study had been concluded. SPPS communicated that the trip had been a success, much due to the assistance of the Somaliland Diplomatic Mission to Sweden which had accompanied them during parts of the trip. The only worry expressed was that there seemed to be some opposition among one key actor to having a non-Somali actor working in the prison and probation sector.
The feasibility study aims to identify needs, ongoing activities, stakeholders and potential partners for a project proposal focused on women prisoners' needs and institutional capacity building involving non-state actors in Somaliland. Possible and suitable capacity development methods will be discussed during the study, which will then be an essential component of the future project. SPPS will also assess the space for action and write the project proposal during the activity period.
