Result
- Successful Organization of Farmer's Day:Farmer's Day event attracted over 500 participants, including farmers, industry experts, and government representatives.It has facilitated knowledge exchange, networking, and the promotion of best practices in agriculture.As well as contribtued to the strengthened relationships between farmers and stakeholders, fostering a collaborative environment for agricultural development. - The GFAs operations have led to significant environmental improvements within the farming communities. A notable achievement is the adoption of sustainable farming practices by 200 farmers, including crop rotation, organic farming, and water-efficient irrigation systems, which have collectively reduced chemical pesticide and fertilizer use, leading to better soil health and water conservation. Additionally, 150 farmers have implemented low-emission farming equipment and practices, contributing to a decreased carbon footprint and climate change mitigation. Enhanced waste management practices, such as composting and recycling, have been introduced in 50 farming communities, reducing agricultural waste and promoting soil enrichment. The installation of water-saving technologies like drip irrigation in 100 farms has significantly conserved water resources, easing the strain on local supplies. Furthermore, the planting of 10,000 trees across various farms has increased tree cover, enhanced biodiversity, and improved microclimates, integrating agroforestry into standard farming practices. These efforts have collectively fostered a shift towards more environmentally conscious and sustainable agricultural methods among farmers, demonstrating a positive and tangible impact on the environment. - Increased Access to Financial Resources: Over 150 farmers secured microloans and grants through GFA's financial literacy and support initiatives.This has enabled farmers to invest in new equipment, seeds, and technology, leading to increased productivity. The above mentioned farmers have improved financial management skills and greater access to capital for business growth. - Advancements in Gender Inclusion:120 women farmers received specialized training and support, leading to increased participation in agricultural activities. Translated into more empowered women farmers, contributing to gender equality and diversity in the agricultural sector. - Enhanced Market Access and Sales: 300 farmers gained access to new local and international markets through GFAs marketing and sales initiatives.This has increased income for farmers, promoting economic stability and growth within the farming communities.Participating farmers are now equipped with the skills to market their products effectively, negotiate better prices, and expand their customer base.
The GFA has three program goals (strategic objectives): GOAL 1 – ADVOCACY AND COMMUNICATION - To be the main advocacy body for Georgian farmers. GOAL 2 – CAPACITY BUILDING AND DEVELOPMENT - To provide programs and services to farmers that will strengthen their economic and social position in the Georgian society. GOAL 3 – MEMBER ENGAGEMENT(NETWORKING) To build and sustain a strong local and global network forming strategic partnerships for Georgian farmers. MISSION GFA’s mission is to strengthen the agricultural sector in Georgia and improve quality of life of Georgian farmers through bringing the farmers together and promoting their visibility. VISION GFA’s vision is to increase agricultural productivity in Georgia, strengthen the competitiveness of farmers and ensure that their contribution to the economic development of Georgia is recognized.
