Swedish Arts Grants Committee (Konstnärsnämnden) design support

The objective of this intervention was to give Konstnärsnämnden (KN) time and resources to develop a progam proposal for a full fledged intervention which they successfully did. During the spring of 2021, KN submitted a proposal for a proposed intervention which later was agreed in September 2021.

Culture should be a dynamic, challenging and unbounded force, with freedom of expression as the basis. In summary, cultural support should: - promote everyone's opportunity for cultural experiences, education and to develop their creative abilities;- promote quality and artistic renewal;- promote a living cultural heritage that is preserved, used and developed;- promote international and intercultural exchange and cooperation;- pay particular attention to children's and young people's right to culture. The objective of this intervention is to give Konstnärsnämnden (KN)time and resources to develop a full fledged progam proposal incorporating KN:s mandate together with Sida's and Agenda 2030 goals. To do this KN will develop contacts in potential partner countries, do context analysis of partner countries, and develop a program based on experiences and lessons learned from cultural institutions and infrastructure in Sweden and in particpating countries. The aim is to analys the current needs and challenges in partner countries, and to develop a plan using KN and partner's capacity to meet the identified needs. The design support is needed for a closer cooperative process of needs identification which will encourage greater ownership and with a focus of creating partnerships which can contribute to institution building.  The program idea builds on the partners experiences from supporting artists and culture actors, including governmental institutions. The expected medium-term outcomes include initiated change processes within the participating institutions to promote reformed culture policies and a more holistic approach to support both artists, institutions and culture and creative industries. This design support will facilitate KN in formulating a project proposal that is inclusive and meets mutually identified needs, as well as finds innovative forms and methods for implementing a collaborative program.
